The Chamber of Deputies is debating the simple motion on Justice submitted by AUR. Minister Radu Marinescu, invited by USR to "Government Hour"

The Chamber of Deputies is debating the simple motion on Justice submitted by AUR. Minister Radu Marinescu, invited by USR to “Government Hour”

December 22, 2025

The simple motion against the Minister of Justice submitted by AUR will be debated on Monday, December 22, by the Chamber of Deputies, and the final vote will take place on the same day. Also on Monday, Radu Marinescu is invited by USR to “Government Hour”.

The meeting will start at 15:00 with the presentation of the motion, followed by debates and voting. The government is reserved 40 minutes, which it can use at the beginning and at the end of the debates, and the parliamentary groups are allocated the maximum time corresponding to the number of members of each, taking into account 5 seconds for each deputy, notes Agerpres.

“Obvious lack of initiative and reaction”

According to the motion submitted to the Permanent Bureau, the Ministry of Justice has the constitutional and political obligation to ensure the proper functioning of the Judiciary, to guarantee fundamental rights and freedoms and to respect legality in the activity of the courts and other authorities in the judicial system, and Radu Marinescu demonstrated, during the exercise of his mandate, “an obvious lack of initiative and reaction”.

USR invokes the “oligarchization of the judicial system”

Also on Monday, but from 4 p.m., Radu Marinescu is called by the USR parliamentarians to the debate “Government Time”for some “topics of major interest for political, economic and social life”.

The themes invoked refer, among others, to “oLigarization of the judicial system”respectively “the concentration of the decision in the hands of influential groups, the network of influence and power that acts illegitimately in the judiciary, the lack of transparency of the appointment and promotion processes, as well as the effects on the real independence of the magistrates, corruption and inefficiency in the judicial system – the analysis of structural dysfunctions, institutional vulnerabilities and the urgent measures necessary to increase the integrity and efficiency of the judicial act”as well as the responsibility of the magistrates.

“The need to correct the package of justice laws”

USR also cites themes such as: meritocracy in the career promotion of magistrates, the efficiency of the system of random allocation of files, the defective way in which European funds are accessed from the PNRR, as well as “the need to correct the package of justice laws” – the identification of the problematic articles, the negative effects recorded since their entry into force, as well as the Government’s perspective on the initiation of legislative changes in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission, the Venice Commission and the relevant international bodies”.

We remind you that the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, declared last week that he will appear in Parliament on Monday both at the debate of the simple motion submitted by the opposition against him, and at the “Government Hour”.
