A city in Spain is attracting more and more tourists this summer, thanks to affordable prices, pleasant weather, gastronomy and rich culture.
The Tripadvisor platform has revealed which are the preferred destinations, based on the first results of the Summer Travel Index 2026 report. The study highlights the destinations with the fastest growth among British tourists, compared from year to year, for the period June to August, writes Euronews.
Destinations in Spain dominate the ranking, with Alicante in first place, followed by Playa de Palma, Malaga and Sitges, all in the top 10.
Other popular destinations such as Rhodes, Budapest and Dublin also appear in the rankings, alongside emerging destinations such as Alvor (Portugal), Ksamil (Albania) and Krakow.
Alicante, located on Spain’s Costa Blanca, is attracting increasing interest due to its affordable prices, year-round sunny weather and excellent accessibility, making it popular with tourists and digital nomads alike.
Visitors can explore the Santa Bárbara Castle or walk the Explanada de España promenade, decorated with colorful mosaics. The old quarter, El Barrio Santa Cruz, impresses with its narrow streets, decorated with traditional tiles and flowers.
For relaxation, tourists can choose beaches such as Postiguet Beach or take a boat trip to Tabarca Island, where they can snorkel in crystal clear waters.
In the summer there is the festival “Moros y Cristianos” (“Moors and Christians”), organized especially in the Valencian Community, which commemorates the Reconquista, reenacting the battles between Muslims and Christians in the Middle Ages.
In terms of gastronomy, arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish soup) should not be missed, along with varied tapas and fresh seafood.
