The survey carried out by CURS in Bucharest, in April 2026, shows a city where dissatisfaction remains dominant, and political tensions are clearly felt in public opinion.

The research was carried out on a sample of 1,073 adults from Bucharest, between April 22-25, 2026, and the margin of error is ±3%, at a 95% confidence level.

According to the survey, 74% of Bucharest residents believe that Romania is going in the wrong direction, while 19% say that the direction is good, and 7% have no opinion. The large difference shows that the negative perception remains clearly dominant.

At the same time, 63% of the citizens of the capital interviewed in the survey believe that Bucharest is going in the wrong direction. Only 31% think the direction is good, while 6% are undecided. Although the assessment is somewhat more balanced than at the national level, dissatisfaction remains the majority.

The main problems of the Capital

Traffic and congestion are indicated by 27% of respondents, being the main problem. This is followed by taxes and fees, with 13%, and the condition of the streets, with 12%. Cleanliness is mentioned by 10%, and hot water and standard of living by 9% each. Health is indicated by 8%, pollution by 7%, parking by 3% and public transport by 1%. Mobility and cost issues clearly dominate the concerns of Bucharest residents.

Voting intention in local elections

Very interesting in the survey is the voting option, knowing that Bucharest is not a fiefdom of social democrats.

This time, PSD would get 22% of the votes, PNL 20% and AUR 20%, followed by USR with 16%. SENS would have 6%, PNRR-Piedone 5%, SOS Romania 5%, the Young People’s Party 2%, REPER 2% and other options 2%.

67% of Bucharest residents say they have heard about the tensions in the governing coalition, and another 21% have heard but are not very aware. Only 7% did not hear at all, and 5% did not respond. The subject is therefore widely known in the public space.

The resignation of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan

54% of respondents believe that Ilie Bolojan should resign, while 42% say no, and 4% do not have an opinion. The result shows a majority in favor of the resignation.

“The public perception in Bucharest remains critical, with complaints mainly related to traffic, costs and the functioning of the administration, while the political scene is fragmented and strongly influenced by current tensions”said the authors of the survey.
