Petra, a Romanian tourist who returned to England after seven years, recounted her adventure on her travel blog.
The Romanian woman reported, disappointed, that she could hardly wait to leave the country, and the experience lived during the visit made her not even want to explore London, one of the most visited cities in the world.
Disappointments of a tourist in England
The filth is from the street to the bus, in some cities in England, writes the author of the story, on her blog, inreperta.com. “All the way from Luton Airport to Bedford I was loathe to hold my rucksack anywhere but in my arms”she says.
A group of students, traveling on the same bus, made an equally unpleasant impression on him. “We had the “pleasure” of traveling with elementary school children for a part of the road. At one point, to give you an idea of how bad it was, the driver stopped the bus and got on (it was a double-decker) to calm them down. We keep complaining that our generation is disconnected from everything. What about the next one?“, the Romanian woman asks.
The mess was in the town of Bedford, according to the tourist’s account, where the Romanian tourists stayed. “While I waited for the bus, I had a way to observe the world. Variegated, mixed, absent. Most of them had their headphones on, so that they were even more absent (and no, it wasn’t the joy we had when the walkman appeared in Romania!), because it was clear that they weren’t happy. With some clothes thrown on them, as if I had pulled on my sleeping pants, to go to the corner of the street to get something. A little self respect!“, writes the tourist.
Neat, the city of Cambridge in England made a better impression on her. But not the places where she stayed.
“It was such a mess that I have found in few places in the world. The next day I didn’t stay. I could only fall asleep by imagining that I was in another part (…) I had inflamed sinuses all the time I was in England (my sign that there are many poisons in the air, water and food). Anyway, it seems to me that almost everything you eat is bland, has too much oil and, at the end of the meal, it’s like it was just to have something in your stomach. The water tastes horrible, very acidic“, writes the author of the story.
Tips for Romanians in England
The city of Brighton in England is dusty, messy, decayed, according to the tourist. Prices are exorbitant, and tourists’ expectations are often overshadowed by disappointments.
“At the end, allow me a bouquet of three pieces of advice to all those who feel the same way in England: If you have properties in Romania, don’t sell them! The West has already fallen. Don’t forget your roots! Each nation is special in its own way, but we still have our soul. Return home if you can and settle your accounts there. At home it’s different and you know it. The intention was not to offend the Romanians who feel good in England, but rather to explain to myself why I couldn’t wait for the departure time to Braşov. “Here there are only thieves and beggars” still echoed in my mind“, writes Petra.
