On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the written test of the national final exam in education, session 2026, will take place. Candidates who have fulfilled all the conditions stipulated by the methodology, i.e. a teaching internship of at least one year, the qualification “Good” or “Very good” for the current school year, as well as an arithmetic average of at least 8 in the two classroom inspections are expected to participate in this test and at the evaluation of the professional portfolio, with marks not lower than 7 in each of these tests. Candidates can enter the exam centers between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., based on a valid ID.
The exam is held in 42 exam centers, one in each county. Out of the total of more than 10,000 registered candidates, those who met the methodological conditions are expected to participate, their number exceeding 9,600.
The written test is organized for 106 subjects, and the elaboration of the subjects, their translation into the languages of the national minorities at the request of the candidates, as well as the elaboration of the evaluation scales are ensured by the National Center for Curriculum and Evaluation.
The disciplines with the highest number of candidates are educators/teachers for preschool education in Romanian, with 2,506 applicants, followed by teachers/teachers for primary education in Romanian, with 1,902 candidates, educator-childcare workers in Romanian, with 576 candidates, special psychopedagogy, with 544 candidates, and physical education and sports, with 506 candidates.

The written test starts at 9:00 a.m. and lasts four hours, with the possibility of extending it by one or two hours in certain special situations, such as in the case of candidates who are blind, amblyopic or with certain visual impairments, or in the situation where the test is conducted by dictating the content by a candidate with certain deficiencies to an assistant professor, of a different specialty than the one for which the test is held.
After the completion of the written test, the topics and assessment scales are displayed at 15:00 on the dedicated web page and on the examination center notice boards. All the rooms that host the written test, as well as the rooms where the examination boards, written papers evaluation boards and appeals resolution boards work, are audio-video monitored.
The first exam results will be displayed on July 21, in the exam centers and on the dedicated website.
Appeals can be submitted to the exam centers on July 21, until 8:00 p.m., and July 22, until 12:00 p.m. They can also be submitted online, to the e-mail addresses communicated by the school inspectorates by posting them at the examination center headquarters on the day of the written test.
The final results are displayed in the examination centers and on the mentioned website on July 27, to be validated by ministerial order between July 30 and August 18, 2026.
The minimum pass average for the exam is 8, and candidates who pass acquire the right to practice in pre-university education, thus overcoming the beginner stage and having the opportunity to enroll on an upward professionalization route.
The written works are evaluated digitized in centers established at national level by discipline. The national exam for finalization in education can be taken free of charge up to three times.
