Seriously ill, former Italian footballer Igor Protti (58 years old) found the strength to lead his daughter, Noemi, to the altar. The nicknamed “Țarul” during his time playing in Serie A, known to Romanians from Pronosport, has been fighting colon cancer for a long time, but decided to be present at the wedding.
When “Back to the Future” star Michael J. Fox was asked how he managed to stay strong during his long battle with Parkinson’s disease, the actor replied, “With love for loved ones. Family is not the most important thing, family is everything“.
The profound words were confirmed by the beautiful gesture of Igor Protti. The former striker, who has been battling colon cancer for a year, decided to walk his daughter down the aisle on the big day.
He appeared at the ceremony in a light blue suit, held tightly by his son, Nicholas Flavio, and holding Noemi with his other hand. A photo of the event, posted on social media, immediately went viral, garnering the affection of thousands of fans and friends from the world of sports.
In a later post, Protti dedicated a blessing to the newlyweds: “May the world grant you a world of serenity! Cultivate your love every day!“.
The most touching comment, however, came from his ex-wife, Patrizia, mother of the bride, who summed up the power of the moment perfectly: “It was a beautiful wedding full of love, strength and tenacity. You walked our daughter down the aisle with a joyful heart. You were a great dad again“.
