The infarction figures of the first survey before the second round. How do George Simion and Nicușor Dan share the votes of Antonescu and Ponta

George Simion and Nicușor Dan are in a draw in the intention to vote for the second round of the presidential elections scheduled on May 18, according to the last survey.

The fight between the gold candidate, George Simion, and the independent candidate Nicușor Dan is extremely balanced. The electorate of Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta will establish the future president.

A few days before the second round, the two candidates are quoted by 48.2%, shows the data of the Atlasintel opinion poll, conducted between May 9-12, 2025, according to HotNews. Also, 1% of the respondents would cancel their vote, and another 2.6% say “I do not know” for those who will opt for.

The polling house has made an analysis on how they will be redistributed to the votes for the candidates who participated in the first round of presidentials. According to Atlasintel, 91.7% of the votes obtained by Crin Antonescu go to Nicușor Dan, and the gold leader would only get 6.2%. A similar situation is also found in the votes obtained by the USR candidate, Elena Lasconi. 96.7% of its voters will focus on Nicușor Dan, while George Simion will take only 2.5%.

And in the case of the votes received by Victor Ponta, also Nicușor Dan is given as their main beneficiary. The Atlasintel survey claims that 69.3% of Ponta votes would reach the independent candidate, and 22.6% would vote for George Simion.

In the last survey before the first round of the presidentials, Atlasintel rated the gold leader at 30.2%, although he would win by almost 41%.

The Atlasintel survey was conducted on May 9-12, 2025 on a 3995 respondents sample, by the random digital recruitment method, has the universe in Romania and has an error margin of ± 2 percentage points at a level of 95%.

The Atlasintel Institute is headed by the Romanian sociologist Andrei Roman.

In the first round of elections, George Simion obtained 40.96% (3,862,761) from the validly expressed votes, Nicuşor Dan – 20.99% (1,979,767 votes), Crin Antonescu – 20.07% (1,892,930 votes), Victor Ponta – 13.04% (1.230,164 votes), Elena Lasconi) (252,721 votes).
