The mobile phone has become for many people not only an indispensable tool, but also a constant source of anxiety, a new study shows. According to the research, 67% of respondents say that breaking the phone is an important source of stress, as it is used for both personal and professional activities.
The data shows that approximately 8 out of 10 Romanians have broken their phone at least once in the last two years, the most frequent incident being the accidental dropping of the device. For many users, the prospect of losing personal data is perceived as more serious than the cost of replacing the phone.
The study also reveals differences in user behavior: men and young people are more likely to accidentally break the screen, while women report dropping their phone more often.
Battery level, daily source of anxiety
Battery level is another common cause for concern. According to the survey, 57% of Romanians check their phone’s battery several times a day, to avoid situations where they run out at important moments.
For 35% of respondents, stress occurs when the battery drops below 30%, while 34% become worried when the level reaches below 20%. Almost a third of users say they only change their usage mode when their battery drops below 10%.
At the same time, 61% of the participants believe that a phone that fully charges in 15-20 minutes would considerably reduce their daily stress.
Important moments missed due to technical limitations
The study shows that 67% of Romanians have missed important moments at least once due to phone limitations, and a third say that such situations cause them frustration.
Among the main causes are the delayed reaction at the time of shooting, mentioned by 27% of respondents, blurry images or repeatedly trying to get the ideal shot.
The hardest shots to capture are motion landscapes, children in motion, pets, and dynamic scenes such as concerts.
AI functions, increasingly appreciated
As the use of phones becomes more complex, AI-based features are increasingly perceived as useful tools. Approximately 60% of Romanians consider them important for saving time and simplifying daily activities.
The research was carried out by HONOR together with CULT Market Research between April and May 2026, on a sample of 400 urban respondents aged between 18 and 50.
