The Romanian Copyright Office verifies the activity of 15 collective management bodies

The Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA) has started a general control regarding the activity carried out in the period 2023-2024 by 15 collective management bodies, the checks being carried out according to the legal provisions in force.

ORDA started a control over the activity of collective management bodies

“From September 29, 2025, ORDA began the general control regarding the activity carried out, in the period 2023-2024, by a number of 15 collective management bodies, the checks being carried out according to the legal provisions in force”ORDA sent.

The control aims to evaluate compliance with the legislation by the management and control bodies of the bodies, the management of mandates and repertoires, the activity of collecting and distributing copyrights, compliance with transparency obligations, the structure and justification of the costs of the bodies, as well as the elaboration of methodologies according to the law.

During the control, specific notifications made to ORDA regarding the activity carried out by the collective management bodies during the controlled period will also be taken into account. In this regard, any complaint or notification can be submitted by accessing the eORDA portal or by e-mail at [email protected]

The 15 controlled collective management bodies are:

Association for the Rights of Phonogram Producers from Romania (ADPFR),

Association for the Management of Publishers’ Rights (AGDE),

AOTO (Orthodox Theological Opera Association), Romanian Association for Performing Artists (ARAIEX),

COPYRO – Society for the Collective Management of Copyrights, the Romanian Center for the Administration of Performers’ Rights (CREDIDAM),

DACIN SARA, OPERA SCRISĂ.RO, PERGAM (Society of Romanian Authors and Publishers of Scientific Works),

SOPFIA (Society of Film and Audiovisual Producers), UCMR-ADA (Composers’ Copyright Association),

UNART (National Union of Artists from Romania), UPFAR-ARGOA (Union of Film and Audiovisual Producers from Romania – Romanian Association for the Management of Audiovisual Works),

UPFR (Union of Phonogram Producers from Romania) and VISARTA (Collective Copyright Management Society in the Field of Visual Arts).

The Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA) is the national authority that ensures the protection of copyright and related rights in Romania.

The role of the institution is to supervise and control the activity of collective management bodies, to guarantee compliance with copyright legislation, to administer national registers of records of works and to ensure transparency in the distribution of remuneration to creators.

Specifically, ORDA is the institution that ensures that artists, authors and other rights holders are legally protected and receive fair remuneration for the use of their works.
