This year, more than 3 million lei were collected from donations from customers in McDonald's restaurants, through the sale of the Rin toy, and with the support of partner companies. With the collected funds, the Foundation will purchase equipment and supplies for the pediatric wards of six hospitals in four cities in Romania: “Grigore Alexandrescu” Children's Emergency Clinical Hospital, “Maria Sklodowska Curie” Children's Emergency Clinical Hospital and the Fundeni Clinical Institute in Bucharest, Filantropia Municipal Clinical Hospital – Pediatric Department in Craiova, Oncopediatrics Department of the Oncological Institute in Cluj-Napoca and “Louis Țurcanu” Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children in Timișoara. Donation system
The McHappy Day campaign took place between November 20-26, 2023, in all McDonald's restaurants in the country, and the partners of the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation contributed to its support until the end of 2023. For every Happy Meal purchased by customers, the restaurant chain donated 1 leu to the Foundation. Customers could also purchase the Rhine Squirrel plush toy. At the same time, the donation system made available to customers also included other options: via SMS, sending a message with the text FAMILY to 8845, activating a monthly donation worth 2 euros, or online, accessing the page www.rmhc.ro/doneaza. The involvement of business partners was another important component for the success of McHappy Day. More than 100 sponsors have joined the cause, already having traditional partnerships with the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation.
About the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation
Since its founding in 1998, the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation has been dedicated to caring for families in difficult times. He fought for a future where all children benefit from high-quality medical services, with their parents always by their side, directly involved in the healing process. This is how the Ronald McDonald Houses appeared, where parents benefit from free accommodation during the treatment of their children.
