Hollywood star Brad Pitt has confessed that he faced suicidal thoughts amid estrangement from his children and ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.
“I’ve never been suicidal in any way. It’s just not part of who I am. In fact, if I have a weakness, it’s probably the fact that I’m a born optimist. It’s helped me many times, but it’s also caused me to foolishly throw myself headfirst into a truck.
The pain was so overwhelming that – I wasn’t going to act, but I could feel… I could feel the coldness of the bullet in my head and it seemed like a relief. And then I understood suicide, in the sense that it is only a form of relief. It’s just the search for a release from pain.” he told Esquire UK magazine, writes the Daily Mail.
Pitt recounted that there was, however, “a single period” in which he contemplated suicide and saw no way out.
He added that survival instinct kicked in immediately and helped him overcome the moment. Asked by the journalist if he was referring to family issues, Pitt confirmed.
The actor also talked about “the huge void” which he felt after the death of his mother, Jane, who died a year ago at the age of 84.
“Pain, if you can survive it, leaves a huge void, but it also leaves a deep beauty. It’s a painful beauty, but it’s beauty”he said.
In July, Zahara, 21, and Maddox, 24, two of the actor’s children, filed to legally remove the Hollywood star’s last name, citing personal reasons for the change.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of the movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”in 2005, and later married in a private ceremony in the south of France in August 2014.
The couple have six children: Shiloh, 20, twins Vivienne and Knox, both 18, as well as Zahara, 21, and Pax, 22. Pitt also legally adopted Angelina Jolie’s 25-year-old adopted son Maddox.
