The Ministry of Education published on Monday, August 10, at 15:00, the subjects and the official evaluation and grading scales for the written exam in Romanian Language and Literature, the first exam of the autumn session of the Baccalaureate exam 2026. At Monday’s test, candidates had three hours to solve the topics. Access to the exam centers was allowed until 08:30 and the test started at 09:00.
What subjects did the candidates receive in the Romanian language
The requirements differed depending on the profile.
to real profile, the technological stream and the vocational stream, with the exception of the pedagogical profile, in Subject III the candidates had to write an essay of at least 400 words about the particularities of a narrative text belonging to Liviu Rebreanu or Camil Petrescu, of their choice.

For human profile, the requirement from Subject III concerned the work of the poet George Bacovia.
In Subject I, the candidates from the real profile received an excerpt from the memoir “I chose the theater”, by Maria Filotti. At point B, they had to write an argumentative text of at least 150 words about the importance of involvement in civic actions in crisis situations.
The second subject was based on a fragment from the piece “Chițimia”, by Ion Băieșu, and the requirement concerned the presentation of the role of the author’s notations.

How the subjects were structured at the Baccalaureate
The written exam in Romanian language and literature was made up of three subjects. The paper is assessed with 90 points, while 10 points are awarded ex officio.
Subject I, marked with 50 points, was based on a text at first glance and was divided into two sections. Candidates had to solve several requirements on understanding and interpreting the passage, and then had to write an argumentative text of at least 150 words.
Subject II, scored with 10 points, required the writing of an answer of at least 50 words starting from a literary fragment. The requirement may concern, depending on the subject, the narrative perspective, the role of the author’s notations, the relationship between the poetic idea and the artistic means or other particularities of the text.
Subject III, marked with 30 points, involved the writing of an essay of at least 400 words, starting from the works and authors provided for in the exam syllabus.
When the Baccalaureate 2026 results are published, autumn session
The series of written tests continues on Tuesday, August 11, with the mandatory profile test – Mathematics or History. On Wednesday, August 12, the test for the choice of the profile and specialization is scheduled, and on Thursday, August 13, the test for Mother Language and Literature will be held.
Initial results will be displayed on August 18 by 12:00 noon. On the same day, between 14:00 and 18:00, candidates will be able to view the papers and submit appeals. The viewing of works and submission of appeals will continue on August 19 and 20.
Appeals will be resolved between August 20-21, and the final results of the autumn session of the Baccalaureate 2026 will be displayed on August 24.
The official subjects and scales are published after the end of each test, starting at 15:00, on the platform dedicated to national exams, in the “Subjects and scales” section.
