A tourist had an experience straight out of a horror movie during an Airbnb stay. The man discovered a hatch hidden under the floor, and the situation became even more bizarre after he claimed to have heard noises coming from the space below.

Everything happened while the man was exploring the rented apartment. He noticed a chair sitting in an unusual place and, out of curiosity, decided to move it. Under the chair he found a red wooden panel hidden in the floor that seemed to hide a room or space he knew nothing about.
The tourist filmed the discovery and published the images on the Internet, where he said that the whole situation made him feel uneasy.
“I rented an Airbnb and noticed there was a chair sitting over what turned out to be a panel hidden in the floor. I didn’t go down there because it didn’t feel right”the man explained on Reddit, according to express.
Mysterious noises coming from under the floor
The next morning, the experience became even stranger. “I thought I heard what sounded like footsteps coming from downstairs, but I can’t say for sure what it was. I found the whole situation unsettling. What do you think that space is? And should I go down there? I’m curious to see what’s behind that door.”he said.
The discovery quickly went viral, and many netizens reacted, comparing the situation to scenes from horror movies.
“You were supposed to go down there and check any books, records or objects you could find,” joked one user.
Another netizen said that he encountered a similar situation in an old house.
“I had a scary cellar like this in an old house I rented. The house had been built in 1890. It was where they kept the cold stuff and the jars and supplies. It was very scary though.” he reported.
While some saw the discovery as the start of a horror story, others offered more realistic explanations. The space could be an old cellar or a basement used in the past for food storage.
Such hidden rooms are found especially in old buildings, where the owners used the spaces under the floor for storage or access to installations.
Accommodation safety experts advise tourists to be cautious when discovering hidden spaces in a rental property.
An unknown hatch or door should not be opened without checking as it may lead to technical spaces, owner’s storage areas or non-accommodation rooms.
