Traian Basescu stated on Sunday, May 25, that he does not believe in the scenario of early elections. The former president believes that Nicușor Dan must remain neutral in relation to all parties and that he will have a mandate without big problems.

“There will be no early elections and I could hear an evaluation and that over 2 years it will be the president’s suspension. I don’t believe this either. (..) I don’t think we’ll have a suspended president over 2 years”, Said Traian Basescu, at Digi24.
Asked if Nicuşor Dan should make a presidential party. Basescu replied: “Not! I think his best shield so that he is not suspended is not to have a party. I think he will not be able to make a party of 51-52%. If he manages to remain neutral in relation to all parties, I think he will have a 5 -year term without a very big deal”, Stressed Basescu.
The former president also stated that Nicuşor Dan having a methodical approach, as a mathematician, may not have as objective only the formation of the Government, but “Very likely to want to appoint the prime minister first, which may or may not be Ilie Bolojan”, Granting the parties the time required to form the government.
“I am convinced that this is in the mind of the president: to designate the prime minister and then give the parties to make a feasible program, not a fantasy program, not a program to return Romania with 180 degrees or to return Romania to the back“, Traian Basescu said, at Digi24.
How could the PSD reach the “abolition”
He also commented on the possibility of entering the PSD. “Regarding the participation or not of the PSD in the government, I think if they want to be abolished, that they have to do: do not participate in the government. The Romanians will not forgive them that, at a difficult time, they have avoided, they gave up assuming responsibility for solving a situation that they mainly created”, Said the former president.
According to Basescu, the PSD gesture “It would be a cowardice, and the country could not be governed (…) We will bring the money from heaven, from the Moon, from otherwise, from discounts … but you cannot, in such a situation, go with a minority government”.
Basescu, undecided on participating in Nicușor Dan’s investment ceremony
Traian Basescu also said on Sunday evening that he has not yet decided if he will participate in Nicușor Dan’s investment ceremony on Monday as President of Romania. Although it initially confirmed the presence, Basescu accuses a hypocrisy from the Parliament.
“I have a great doubt whether to go or not. I confirmed that I was going, but that’s to have all the options open. Me, Parliament took all my rights, so he does not recognize me as a president. And then, why should I go as a president, to an event? Because I received the invitation from Parliament. A parliament who, not recognizing me that he was president, why would I go? I wonder. Only out of respect for Nicuşor, probably. I will decide until tomorrow, I see if I will go or not, ”he said.
