Travel alert for Romanians who go to the USA. Severe meteorological phenomena in several regions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs Romanian citizens who are located, transit or intend to travel to the United States that local authorities have issued a warning of severe meteorological phenomena for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles.

According to the data provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (www.weather.gov), in the next period, heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts are forecast, which can reach speeds up to 55 miles per hour (about 90 km/h).

At the same time, a flood warning was established for the same areas, as a result of the increased risk determined by the significant amounts of precipitation. The alert is valid until Wednesday, October 15, 6:00 (local time). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Romanian citizens to comply with the instructions of the American authorities and to call the 911 emergency number in case of imminent danger.

Romanian citizens can request information and consular assistance at the phone numbers of the general consulate in Los Angeles: +1 310-444-0623; +1 310-473-8061; +1 310-231-4468, the appeals being redirected to the Center for Contact and Support of Romanian Citizens from abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by Call Center operators.
