Invited on Thursday, May 22, during a show at Digi24, former prime minister Victor Ponta has harshly criticized PSD President Sorin Grindeanu and even stated that “Marcel Ciolacu was better”.
The former prime minister accuses Sorin Grindeanu of contributing significantly to the PSD collapse, which, if he does not change his way of making politics, will have no say in politics.
“If they do not think what they will look like in 2028, PSD, with their way of doing politics and with totally unpopular leaders, will become a social-democratic party as they are around us: Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, that is, a hinge of 8-10%, which is sin.”considers Victor Ponta.
“The old model, in which you put pressure on the mayors to bring people to the vote is a totally outdated model. They have succeeded. But, in fact, it creates a lot of rejection from the voters. The policy in 2025 already looks different”, the politician continued.
Asked if he will work better with the PSD, now that Sorin Grindeanu, Victor Ponta has launched a series of harsh criticisms, accusing that he is one of the main artisans who contributed to the PSD collapse, but also that in the second round of the presidential elections he supported George Simion.
“No word. But it’s not about personal issues. However, I know Sorin Grindeanu the best of all. He was in the PSD leadership that collapsed the party. He was in the leadership of the government that collapsed Romania. He was on the Nordis plane that collapsed the image of the PSD leadership. said Victor Ponta, appreciating that Marcel Ciolacu was “Much better.”
Also, the former prime minister was accused of current PSD’s current interim president of the fact that, together with Hubert Thuma from PNL, he supported George Simion in the second round, although both were pro-European.
“Together they were the campaign team of Crin Antonescu, together, they supported George Simion in the second round. It is their right to support who they want. But do not believe that I know I do not know and Nicușor Dan or Ilie Bologan knows.”
As for his political project, Victor Ponta says that anyone who thinks as he is welcome to join him and that the purpose is not to “break from the PSD”.
“I do not want to break from the PSD. If there will be a few people who think like me, they are welcome in the new construction that I started. They do not understand that, first of all, they do not want the world. Nor will Mr. Grindeanu, the PSD voters will, as Marcel Ciolacu did not want to, as they do not,” Victor Ponta pointed out.
Regarding the entry of PSD to government, the politician considers that a long -term collaboration is not possible.
“Because they will continue the worst possible thing, namely a type of personal negotiation. What functions do the people around the management receive, 7, 10, 15 people. What advantages, what immunity possibly compared to various scandals, because here we are not talking about Nordis, that seems to me the simplest. said Victor Ponta
How Sorin Grindeanu responds
On Thursday, the interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, recruited the accusations brought by Victor Ponta.
“When we talk about Victor Ponta, I can say the following thing: when you have a traitor brand and you did this brand, it is difficult to come and have discussions with someone from the PSD. More than that, I do not want to comment, related to Victor Ponta and to Victor Ponta’s sayings,” said Sorin Grindeanu.
