Video Bolojan, greeted with boos in Iasi. Prime Minister’s reaction

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was greeted with boos from the people of Iași on Friday. The reactions would have come amid dissatisfaction with the current economic situation.

Ilie Bolojan was greeted with boos in Iași, where he is participating in an event organized by the Prefect’s Institution, in collaboration with the Iași County Council, and aims to strengthen the dialogue between local authorities and the Government.

Bolojan smiled at those who shouted against him as he got out of the car and continued on his way to the conference room where the meeting is taking place.

The discussion agenda covered the state of the national economy, as well as the main administrative and development challenges of the county.

“I am in Iași today and tomorrow in Botoşani to talk with people from the local administration about two issues. First of all, about how we implement the most important connectivity project in Moldova, the two ends of the highway towards Suceva-Siret and Iași-Ungheni, the financing of which was approved yesterday by the European Commission. It is important that in addition to what the people from the Ministry of Transport and the companies that implement these projects do, the local administration creates conditions, so that after the design and execution contracts are signed – which should all be signed in the spring of this year – we can prepare the works in such a way that from the fall of this year or from the spring of next year at the latest, the two projects, being financed through the SAFE program, which is a program dedicated to defense, but also finances these connecting axes with a dual civil and military profile, must be completed by 2030”said Bolojan on Friday, in Iași, before the scheduled meetings with the mayors in the afternoon, writes Mediafax.

“Another point for which I am here (…) is to discuss with the local administrations the measures that are taken today in the administration, which means the state budget that will be approved in February, the aspects related to taxes and local taxation that were adopted in December, the financing through the “Anghel Saligny” program and all aspects related to local administration in such a way as to create conditions for the mayors to perform and the administration to be at the service of the citizens”Bolojan also said.

PSD mayors from Iaşi County announced that they will not participate in the meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who will be present in the municipality on Friday, the PSD Iaşi leadership arguing that the meeting is purely formal and that the budget reduction decisions have already been taken.

“The Prime Minister “Taie-Tot”, the liberal Ilie Bolojan, this preacher of austerity, is coming to Iasi, today, to meet with the county mayors. The meeting is, however, a purely formal one: the budget reduction decisions have already been taken. The adoption of austerity measures, without real consultation with all parties involved, will have dramatic effects on local communities. Ignoring political partners and public opinion is unacceptable. After a careful analysis, the PSD mayors from Iasi county decided not to participate in the convocation made by Ilie Bolojan. Because the PSD does not want to legitimize austerity, does not want to reverse the cuts, does not want poverty”states the leadership of PSD Iasi

The liberals from Iași claim that several PSD mayors from the county initially confirmed their presence at the Friday meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, but that they “received phone calls and an order from the center” to refuse participation.

The concerted attack of the social democrats is not about caring for communities, but about the fear of reform, about the desperation to lose control over wasted public money and about the refusal to accept that the time of the “rail file” and party sinecures has set. Several PSD mayors initially confirmed their participation in the meeting with Ilie Bolojan, in an act of personal conscience. They then received phone calls and an order from the center to refuse and were delivered a populist score. The protest of PSD Iasi mayors has nothing to do with what everyone thinks personally, but with threats coming along party lines”, says the leadership of the PNL Iasi
