George Simion, the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold), announced on Monday, October 13, that at the Congress of the Party, which will take place at the end of November, he will apply for a new term at the head of the formation.

“Our party has grown from one row of elections to another. We would like to grow even more. Also, the number of members has increased from several hundred to over 45,000 at present. I have submitted my candidacy and other colleagues are free to submit their candidacy, either on my motion, or on another motion. Simion said, in a press conference held in Parliament.
The Gold leader emphasized the importance of organizing the county conferences, specifying that 41 responsible for the county branches, the Republic of Moldova and the Diaspora were appointed. These conferences will take place during November, in accordance with the Party Statute.
On the other hand, George Simion criticized the Government for delaying election organization in the capital, claiming that the decisions regarding the electoral calendar are taken “In contempt for citizens.”
“In order to reach a moment of the elections in Bucharest, they must be organized. It is inadmissible to make choices as it suits you and when it suits you.”said the golden leader.
George Simion also stated that, at present, Romania does not work under conditions of democracy, mentioning repeated delays in local elections and comparing the situation with that of Sector 5.
In this context, he filed a criminal complaint and pleaded for organizing early parliamentary elections.
On September 30, the National Bureau of Gold decided to convene the National Congress of the Party for November 30, 2025, in Alba Iulia.
