He spoke about leaving Antenă in the podcast produced by Cătălin Măruță.
“It’s very simple. We asked them nicely to do only one season a year. He left from there. I told everyone. I didn’t say I wanted to leave, no, never”said Cătălin Scarlătescu.
He later detailed the real reason. It seems that the fault was the busy schedule, which he could no longer cope with.
Cătălin Maruţă: Another season meant less free time.
Cătălin Scarlătescu: Think about it, Dumitrescu, when he entered this poem, he didn’t have a wife. Now he has a wife, two children, he wants to take his children to school. Bontea, his children were small, now his daughter is almost 30 years old, she is big. Me, maybe I want to have children too.
Cătălin Maruţă: And you couldn’t agree with them on this matter?
Cătălin Scarlătescu: I kept trying for a year or two.
Asked about the money he received, he replied:
“If I break your leg right now and say: take 50,000 or 100,000 more from here, what do you do, screw it up and run away? You can’t, baby, you can’t. I have an age.
Think that before I left Antenă I had season 11 Chefs with knives, America Express and Season 12. I had a year and a half of the dog barking at me in the yard. It was not easy to film those. We worked like hell on their cart, ours. I shot like a slave on the plantation.”
Cătălin Scarlătescu also talked about the fact that he was not able to reach an agreement.
Cătălin Maruţă: You also worked with Mona in Pro TV, you couldn’t get along because everything ended quickly on both sides
Scarlatescu: “I don’t think it’s a joke. They just wanted to scare us and they made us a million… how can you come and ask me for 6 million euros? For what, guys, 6 million euros?
What they ask for in those processes makes you laugh. They ask me money for posting something on Instagram, but half of it is posted by them. How do we do it? Bontea is the kind of old man who really doesn’t post anything, someone else posted at him.
We were very disciplined boys, you know. Decent and disciplined, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. If we were stupid and rebellious, we would have been disembarked a long time ago, you know how it is with this television.”
Cătălin Maruţă: It seems to me that after so many years you haven’t been able to reach a common agreement: It looked like a war. It seemed like Chiefs who were ungrateful and forgot who helped them and left.
Scarlatescu: One second. I never forgot. I never forgot, but do you know how much I worked for this help? 12 years. I was the number one pickaxe, with Bontea and Dumitrescu.

He also revealed that when he decided to leave, he had offers from several TV stations.
Cătălin Maruţă: Another assumption was that, well, those from Pro TV told you something to take you away from there (from Antena 1 – no)
Scarlatescu: It’s not true. And I had a proposal from Prima TV. There have been proposals from Kanal D all these years. All the time, it’s like football players. (…)
Cătălin Maruţă: And now the red question: Did they give you more money at Pro TV than at Antena 1?
Scarlatescu: Is that what you want to know? Be careful here: Yes, two lei more. In our country it was not called involution, it was called evolution, so we evolved a little. A little higher.
