President Nicușor Dan was asked on Friday, May 15, who he would throw out of the boat between Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and PSD president Sorin Grindeanu.
During a press conference held at the end of the visit to Black Sea Defense, Aerospace and Security, Nicușor Dan was asked who he would throw out of the boat between Ilie Bolojan and Grindeanu in order to survive.
“I cannot answer that question. As I have already said, we must look to the future with responsibility.
We need accountability that requires parliamentary coherence. Which justifies the fact that I have been silent many times when asked for my opinion on various subjects — we must have a pro-Western majority. This is the objective of Monday’s talks”, said Nicușor Dan.
We remind you that on Monday, May 18, Nicușor Dan convened consultations with the parties and parliamentary formations in Cotroceni, with a view to appointing the prime minister.
Consultations will take place according to the following schedule:
- 09:00 – Social Democratic Party (PSD);
- 10:00 a.m. – Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR);
- 11:00 a.m. – National Liberal Party (PNL);
- 12:00 – Union Save Romania (USR);
- 13:00 – Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR);
- 14:00 – Parliamentary Group of National Minorities;
- 15:00 – SOS Romania Party (SOS);
- 16:00 – Young People’s Party (POT).
Tensions between Ilie Bolojan and Sorin Grindeanu have increased in recent months, amid disputes over economic reforms and austerity measures.
These culminated in PSD and AUR submitting a motion of censure against the Bolojan Government, adopted last week with 281 votes “for”, out of 288 parliamentarians present.
Immediately after the motion, PNL announced that it would go into opposition, Bolojan adding that PSD “dynamited the governing coalitionhe used the lie as one of the main political weapons, he pulled the handbrake on the reform projects and this is an unequivocal decision.”
Later, Sorin Grindeanu also said that Bolojan is happy with the idea of remaining prime minister and compares the PNL leader with Călin Georgescu, after a wave of sympathy was triggered on social networks for the prime minister removed by a motion of censure.
At the same time, the PSD president is waiting for data from the National Institute of Statistics regarding the state of the country’s economy in the first three months of the year.
“Romania means more than Ilie Bolojan. Romania means that we can quickly have a Government if everyone sits down at the table. The PSD is willing to do this. In two days we will have the data from the INS, which will show the state of the economy in the first quarter, i.e. until the end of March, which will, in fact, be a mirror of Mr. Bolojan’s management”Grindeanu also said.
