Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau caught the attention of fans after the artist posted on Instagram a series of photos and videos from their trip to Japan, sparking new speculation about their relationship.
In one of the images, Perry and Trudeau appear smiling in a selfie, and in another video the two are filmed trying sushi. Although neither of them has officially commented on the relationship, repeated appearances together have intensified the rumors. The BBC notes that Trudeau was previously seen at a Perry concert, fueling talk of a possible romantic link between the two.
Katy Perry is in Japan on her global tour “Lifetimes Tour”. The 41-year-old artist accompanied the photos with the message: “Tokyo Tour and More”.

Meeting with the former Japanese Prime Minister
Earlier in the week, Trudeau, 53, retweeted a photo of himself and Perry alongside former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. Trudeau wrote: “Nice to see you again, (Fumio Kishida). Katy and I were very happy to have the opportunity to talk with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to the rules-based international order and a better future for all“.

First public appearances together
Last month, the pair appeared to confirm relationship rumors after they were photographed holding hands at an event in Paris. The TMZ website published pictures and footage of them walking hand-in-hand, with Trudeau helping Perry into the back seat of a car as photographers yelled at them. This appearance coincided with the artist’s 41st birthday and appeared to mark their first public outing as a couple.
During a recent concert in London, Perry hinted at her romantic status. When a fan asked for her hand in the audience, the artist joked: “I wish you had asked me 48 hours agoThe joke came just days after the first photos of Trudeau appeared online.

Katy Perry had a long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she was a couple for a decade and has a daughter. The two broke up this summer. Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada from 2015 to 2025, was married to Sophie Grégoire for 18 years, and the two have three children. Their separation was made official in the summer of 2023.
