American rapper Fatman Scoop, known for his 2003 hit “Be Faithful,” has died at the age of 53.

The tragic announcement was made by his tour manager, Birch Michael, known as Pure Cold. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, professionally known as Fatman Scoop”he said on social networks.
The musician was seen collapsing on stage during a concert in Connecticut before being rushed to hospital. The incident was also confirmed by Mayor Lauren Garrett, who requested support for the artist who is in critical condition.
On Friday evening, the artist began to feel ill during the performance and collapsed on stage, being rushed to the hospital. His manager, DJ Birch Michael, announced the rapper’s death, and the artist’s family described his loss as that of a “radiant soul” and “a beacon of light” both on stage and in life, according to the DailyMail.
Fatman Scoop, known for his collaborations with Missy Elliott and Mariah Carey and his hit “Be Faithful”, won three Grammy Awards and was also active in reality TV. The exact cause of death has not yet been released, but it occurred after Friday’s incident. In a video, the rapper was caught shouting “Let’s make some noise!” before collapsing on stage.
“If you came to party,” the rapper said, before taking a long pause. Then he seemed to lean forward. “Make noise“, he added, his words slurred.
As soon as he finished speaking, he collapsed to the ground, dropping the microphone.
The moment Fatman Scoop gets sick
Screams of horror and gasps of fear could be heard from the audience as the rapper’s colleagues tried to calm the crowd. “We feel good”, one of them said, while another again asked the crowd to “make noise» – which was met with a much quieter response than moments before.
In another clip, a member of the rapper’s entourage walks up to the DJ’s station and stops the music, and the place falls into an eerie silence. While the DJ’s booth partially blocked the view, a paramedic performed chest compressions on the rapper. At 20:33, emergency teams arrived at the scene of the incident, transported the rapper on a stretcher and rushed him to the hospital.
Hamden Mayor Lauren Garett confirmed that Scoop received emergency treatment and asked fans to “keep in their thoughts and prayers“. Tributes immediately began to flow, the UK’s Reminisce festival, where the artist was due to perform on September 7, expressing his regret and saying that “his absence will be deeply felt by all.”
Fatman Scoop was known for his collaborations with Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey and David Guetta. In 2014, he revealed that his nickname came from his uncle because of his love of ice cream, and not from Lauryn Hill as was rumored. On the morning of his downfall, he released the official video for his latest collaboration with Dyce Paso, “Let It Go.”
