Over 75 museum institutions open their doors on Saturday, May 17, to celebrate the “Night of Museums 2025”. The Ministry of Culture announces the largest edition organized so far.

Tens of thousands of Romanians are expected to visit, on Saturday evening, the historical museums and objectives in the cities that open their doors at the Night of the Museums 2025. The Ministry of Culture announces a record participation in the event that takes place in the Capital and in all the counties in Romania.
“Over 75 museum institutions, bringing together 210 museum spaces across the country, open their doors on May 17, for the Night of Museums 2025, in an edition that is announced to be the largest and most valuable so far. An impressive number of 500 specialists in the field of heritage and museum education will organize 677 to all the public-educational activities, Visitors up to the mature audience, passionate about history, art, science and tradition ”, the Ministry of Culture transmitted.
Romanians are invited to rediscover the national heritage, to meet those who protect it and to live the joy of a unique evening dedicated to culture, said Natalia Intotero, the Minister of Culture.
Museums in the Capital that can be visited for free
According to the partial list published by the Ministry of Culture, at the Night of Museums 2025, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the National Museum of Art of Romania, the Museum of Natural History “Grigore”, the “Vasile Grigore” Museum – the National Museum, the National Museum, the National Museum, the National Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of Natural History, “The Brancovenești palaces from the Gates of Bucharest”.

The National Museum of Natural History “Grigore Antipa” opens its doors on May 17, between 5:00 pm and 23:00, with free access to the permanent exhibition. Visitors will enjoy the photo exhibition “#2 Albania, nature files”, artistic moments supported by students, astronomical observations with Astromania and Digi World movie projections. In the museum yard, specialists organize collection of night insects and interactive presentations about bats. The activities are carried out outdoors, only if the weather allows, announces the representatives of the institution, on the Facebook page of the museum.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant opens its exhibitions at 12:00, with a ticket -based entrance until 18:00. Between 18:00 and 20:00, access is free, and the exhibition #jesuismahala remains open until 11:00 pm. Visitors can discover both the permanent and temporary exhibition, in the presence of invited artists. In the courtyard of the museum there is a thematic fair, and at the Cinema the Peasant Museum runs films within the Cinepolitics Festival. The events take place in partnership with the national network of museums and the Ministry of Culture, informs the museum, on the Facebook page.

In Alba County, the National Museum of the Union of Alba Iulia can be visited. In Arad the Arad Museum Complex can be visited. In Argeș, the Câmpulung Municipal Museum, the Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum, the Pitești Prison Memorial and the Children’s Museum, the “Brătianu” National Museum, the Argeș County Museum, can be visited.
In Bacău county, the Museum Complex of Natural Sciences “Ion Borcea”, the “George Enescu” National Museum. In Bihor the Museum of the Country of Crișurii Oradea – Museum Complex can be visited. In Bistrița-Năsăud county, the Bistrița-Năsăud Museum Complex can be visited. In Botosani county, the Botoșani County Museum, the Mortgages Memorial can be visited.

In Giurgiu the “Teohari Antonescu” County Museum can be visited. In Gorj County, the Gorj County Museum “Alexandru Stefulescu” can be visited.
In Hunedoara County, the Dacian and Roman Civilization Museum in Deva can be visited. In Hunedoara, on Saturday night the Corvin Castle will be open to the public and can be visited for free, and the organizers of the events announce musical concerts in the yard of the medieval monument and video projections on its walls.
In Ialomița county, the Ialomița County Museum can be visited. In Iași, the “Regina Maria” Municipal Museum can be visited. In Maramureș you can visit the Baia Mare Astronomical Science Museum, the Village Museum in Baia Mare, the County Museum of History and Archeology Maramureș, the County Museum of Art “Baia Mare artistic”, the Maramureșan Museum, the “Victor Gorduza” Baia Mare Mineralogy Museum.

The Museum of the Iron Gates Region can be visited in Mehedinti. In Mureș the Mureș County Museum can be visited. In Neamț, the Neamț National Museum Complex can be visited. In Prahova County, the National Museum “George Enescu” can be visited. In Sălaj county, the County Museum of History and Art Zalău can be visited. In Satu Mare county, the Satu Mare County Museum can be visited.
In Sibiu the Astra Museum and the Natural History Museum in Sibiu (compartment of the Brukenthal National Museum) can be visited.
At the Astra Museum in Sibiu, on Saturday, May 17, visitors are invited to participate in interactive workshops of traditional crafts: pottery, carpentry, shingle, carving, dogt, sewing, textile processing, gastronomy and more. Creative activities such as painting, creative writing and traditional dances will also be carried out. Visitors will be able to learn about gardening, fishing, curly or corn end. Numerous monuments will be opened for visit, with guides offered by the museum specialists.
“Museums in Romania matter! It is not only a message without foundation, for the first time in the history of organizing the night of museums, the event receives the Spring from the Ministry of Culture so that the most important resource, the employees of the museums, be recognized in the society. A necessary support, a confirmation of the importance of the museums, for the other, Museums develop! ”, said Ciprian Stefan, manager of the Astra Museum and president of the national network of museums in Romania.
