The “Ion Dacian” National Operetta and Musical Theater resumes the long-awaited show “Princess of the Circus”, which returns to the public’s attention after 30 years. The production, directed by Beatrice Rancea, proves to be a gem that will be talked about for a long time.

The show impresses from the first to the last chords and in absolutely all chapters: musically, the soloists, the orchestra and the theater choir acquit themselves admirably with a score that does not lack challenges.
Choreographically, the show is defined by the numbers elaborated by Dragoş Roşu and Johanna Bodor and perfected by the sublimely inspired vision of director Beatrice Rancea, and the theater’s dancers impress both in moments of perfect grace and in those of overwhelming energy.
The costumes, designed by Doina Levintza, shine both literally and figuratively and complete the sparkling ambiance of the show, and the scenography signed by Vladimir Turturică perfectly outlines the colorful universe of the circus, but also leaves cones of subtle shadow, for the sentimental passages of the famous operetta.
Princess Fedora and Mister X vibrate the sentimental chord of the audience, with the arias of a special sensitivity and the interpretations of high vocal and artistic attitude. The dynamic and funny line of the show is drawn by the appearances of the characters Tony Shlumberger and his Miss Mable, who offer true musical numbers with choreographies and sets worthy of a large production. The sequence in Act III, in which the most frothy characters meet, is contagiously comic, and Mrs. Shlumberger, the owner of the Archduke Karl Hotel in Vienna, gathers thunderous applause in her duet with the loyal Pelikan.
The moments of acrobatics, performed by Globus Circus professionals, are unprecedented in the Operetta hall and take the viewer’s breath away. A delight are also special decoration elements, which make part of the action take place at a height.
From the opening to the closing of the curtain, the story flows fascinatingly fluidly, but also stunningly alert, and the show has it all: show elements, conflict, emotion, suspense, twists and, of course, happy-end. For three hours, the audience enters the world of the circus, discovers the drama of the artist disregarded by society, experiences the emotions of the sympathetic couple in love Tony – Mabel, but also the story full of surprising twists and turns of Fedja Palinski / Mister X. And at the end, they smile and applaud with conviction the triumph of love but also a top 10 show that ended the season.
The following performances are already scheduled, on October 5, October 26 and November 14, and tickets are already on sale on Ticketstore.ro, Opereta.ro and at the ticket office of the National Operetta and Musical Theater Ion Dacian, in Bd. Octavian Goga No. 1.
