“My Romania deserves more. It is our Romania. Romania deserves more than money stolen from the trunk. Romania deserves more than the looting of the many for the interest of those who were perched in positions brought there by the parties. You know very well, it’s not news. But we seem to forget too quickly. Romania deserves more than missed chances one after another. What brought us together in this hall and in many places in the country and in the diaspora, there it was the hardest, it was with many tears, is precisely the belief that it can be better. It can be better. I really believe in my country project and it is a good project. My country program is very simple. It is the plan for each of us to feel protected in this country and respected. This is a word that I have heard very often from Romanians in the diaspora. That was the main issue, then corruption, if you can believe it”said Elena Lasconi.

She stated that Romanians should not have to fight daily for essential things, such as a good school near the house or a reliable hospital.

“We don’t have to fight every day for essential things, for a good school near the house, for example, or for a hospital that you can enter with confidence or for a decent paved street. All the time we seem to be fighting for justice to be done to us in court. I saw many Romanians crying in the courts. We ended up fighting for the money we worked for. And people should understand that this is not how things normally work.”Lasconi also said.

Regarding taxes, Lasconi mentioned that he proposes cutting labor taxes because Romania ranks first in Europe in terms of working poverty.

“One of the main measures is cutting labor taxes because we are in first place in Europe in terms of working poverty, that is, we work and we are still poor. We find out that the state is still putting its hand in our pockets, increasing the fees and taxes, and we find out that many loans are being made, that we are losing half a billion euros from the PNRR – remember that it didn’t happen for a very long time. We lost half a billion European funds because PSD and PNL have cousins, friends, relatives perched at the head of some state companies. And all the time it seems that they need more money, another envelope of money from us. This is the feeling I’ve been living for 35 years. Generations not yet born will pay back the money borrowed in the last three years. We are deeply in debt. The state does not pay these loans. We are the state. We will pay off these loans and the bad news is that when this sad loan party is over, we will be the ones picking up the pieces.”stated the USR candidate in the presidential elections.

“The real alternative is Elena Lasconi”

USR deputy Cătălin Drula, former president of the party, is of the opinion that Romania is ready for a female president, Elena Lasconi being “the only luminous figure outside the system”while his opponents “men” i am “some arrows of the wicked system”.

“Many people wonder if Romania is ready for a woman president. Well, my clear and loud answer is ‘yes’. If our brothers from the Republic of Moldova can have a brave woman president, so can we. And speaking of that: brothers Moldovans, go vote! Putin can’t steal as much as you can vote!”said Drula, at the launch event of Elena Lasconi’s and USR’s program for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

He said that the presidential votes for Elena Lasconi and from December 1 for the parliamentary ones are “votes for the hope of Romania’s reform”.

“Politics in Romania cannot only mean PSD and PNL. The real and consolidated alternative is USR and Elena Lasconi and it is in our vote, the Romanians, that this alternative become a reality, and I, together with all the colleagues who are in this room and everywhere in the country, at the moment, in the streets, in the campaign, we make you a promise: day by day we will fight for this country, for the future of our children, we will be there for you. Elena Lasconi president and USR in government”Drula added.

Nicușor Dan, cutting message at the USR event

The Mayor of the Capital, Nicuşor Dan, present on Sunday at the launch event of Elena Lasconi’s and USR’s program for the presidential and parliamentary elections, declared that the subject “justice” seems to be “missing” from the collective mind, according to Agerpres.

“When you say justice, you also say anti-corruption. It seems that this subject (justice, no) has disappeared from the collective mind, somehow. It still happens in the daily exercise, in public administration, that the reply appears: ‘Let’s write a criminal complaint’. And instead of being serious, the world bursts into laughter. Unfortunately, this is where we are with the justice system, because it took 18 years and three lawsuits to demolish it. It will take two more years and we will demolish it But there is a difference in energy between someone who signed in five seconds and others who work for 20 years to fix it, precisely because the one who signed in five seconds was aware that nothing will ever happen which together we must change”said Nicusor Dan.

He drew attention to “huge economic challenges” that Romania will face in the coming years and he appreciated that our country must be governed by “some responsible people”, by right-wing forces.

“Some elections are coming up and some difficult years are coming for Romania. And the global context and the recent past will bring Romania a huge economic challenge. In this context, there is a need for air for Romania to be governed by some responsible people. And when I say responsible, I say right. Looking from a distance, you can see the general picture. After 1989, Romania has a long way to go to make this country a country with institutions. To change the way things work and how things work , we need reformists and I’m glad that you are still on the barricades”said Nicusor Dan.
