For many tourists, a luxury holiday means the Maldives or Mauritius. Spectacular beaches, turquoise waters and abundant sunshine make these destinations popular options. However, a recent study shows that there is one corner of the world that manages to combine luxury with affordable prices: Indonesia.

The analysis, carried out by ‘AbayaButh’, looked at 30 honeymoon destinations and assessed the price of plane tickets, five-star hotel rates, availability of luxury resorts, quality of spas and access to pools and private villas, according to the dailymail.
For comparison, flights to other similar destinations can cost three to four times more. Staying in a five star hotel in Indonesia “it’s also cheaper, costing an average of €455 per night”, compared to €1,077 in the Maldives and €618 in Bermuda.
In addition, Indonesia offers 177 luxury resorts, 673 five-star spas and 538 hotels with private pools – one of the highest proportions globally.
For tourists departing from Romania, the prices of round-trip plane tickets to Bali (Indonesia), with one or more stops, can start from approximately 600-800 euros, in the cheapest periods, according to the current offers displayed by flight comparison engines. These rates include taxes and are for indirect routes, as there are currently no direct flights from Romania to Bali.
Indonesia thus proves to be an ideal choice for those who want luxury, comfort and memorable experiences without spending exorbitant amounts.
In 2024, Indonesia saw significant tourism growth, reaching an estimated 13.9-14.2 million international tourists, an increase from 2023.
