Paul Ispas, a graduate of 36-year-old political science, submitted on Friday, March 14, 2025, the candidacy for the presidential elections, without actually having any intention to become the President of Romania. “My approach is a civic one ”he said.

Paul decided to take this action, revolted by Călin Georgescu’s interviews before the first round of November 2024, stating that he has zero campaign funding. With the support of friends, he set up a plan.

Specifically, he did a social experiment and a civic approach. To show that an independent, without money and without campaign teams has no chance to correctly gather the 200,000 signatures needed to run for the Presidency of Romania.

“My intention is not to be president. My approach is a civic one. I knew Călin Georgescu for about six years. I knew what this candidate could. When many people went after this : . I wanted to show that it is impossible to do this. I wanted to show that it is impossible to do this, to show the limits, the barriers, which the electoral system puts the people who want to get there ”, said Paul Ispas, in an interview for recorder.

He says that the process of signature tightening is deeply problematic, even fraudulent: “Citizens have no control over signatures. ”

“It seems impossible to me that in three to four days, 200,000 real signatures, holographs signed by the people whose names appear next to them, will be collected. It’s a logistical nightmare. I know how much I fought for these 800 signatures ”, said Paul Ispas.

Paul Ispas applied with only 850 signatures in the file, gathered in two months, in the street, correctly, aware that he has zero chances to be admitted to elections.

On his blog, Paul Ispas writes that he is a graduate of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bucharest. He followed a master’s degree in political communication and electoral marketing at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies.

“But more important than the diplomas consider the individual study. I am passionate about history, my favorite authors being Neagu Djuvara and Lucian Boia, among the Romanians, and I appreciate the realism of Yuval Noah Harari. I inform myself from various and credible sources on topics of national, geostrategic and technology. (….) I have over ten years of experience in big IT companies: Hewlett-Packard, Oracle and Uipath ”writes Paul Ispas.
