The project for these centers, started in 2018, was blocked at the end of 2021, and following the negotiations carried by the ministry with the World Bank was resumed in 2022 and extended until 2026, according to Agerpres.
Currently, the centers for the treatment of patients with severe burns are in various stages, from 20% to 60%, being carried out by the project regarding the reform of the sanitary sector – improving the quality and efficiency of the health system.
“The project includes the activities and funds necessary for the elaboration of the technical projects and the execution of the works for the building of three modern centers for the treatment of patients with severe burns, respectively at the County Emergency Clinical Hospital «Pius Brînzeu» Timisoara (realized 60%), the Emergency Clinical Hospital Children «Grigore Alexandrescu» Bucharest (made 20%) and Târgu Mureş County Emergency Clinical Hospital (20%)“, informed MS.
The new buildings in progress for large burnt centers include operative blocks, anesthesia-intensive anesthesia and emergency units and existing UPU connection (within SCJU Târgu Mureş and SCUC Gr. Alexandrescu Bucharest).
The total estimated value for achieving the three objectives is about 220 million euros, and the estimated term for their completion is the end of 2025 – quarter I / 2026.
“In parallel, MS through the UMPBM (the management unit of the World Bank project) has started the procedures for the purchase of the new equipment related to the three centers of patients with severe burns and constituted the technical working groups at the level of each center in order to launch the tender procedure. The need for financing for equipment amounts to about 100 million euros‘, says the Ministry of Health.
The information was made following the tragedy in North Macedonia where a devastating fire destroyed a club on Saturday night. Following the fire, 51 people died, and another 155 were injured due to burns, smoke inhalation and the fact that they were trampled to the only exit of the building.
The international press compared the incident with the tragedy in the Collective club. Romania intervened in support of Northern Macedonia, sending a military aircraft to transport four seriously injured to hospitals in Lithuania. They are mechanically intubated and ventilated.
