World Kidney Day: The Romanian Society of Nephrology requires the continuation of prioritizing the diagnosis and treatment for chronic kidney disease

On the occasion of the World Kidney Day, celebrated annually on the second Thursday of March, the Romanian Society of Nephrology makes an appeal to continue the prioritization of the diagnosis and early treatment of the chronic kidney disease (BCR), a condition that impacts the life of about 1 in 10 Romanians.

Our efforts are aimed at ensuring an integrated management of chronic kidney disease, aligned with European standards, at all levels of medical assistance, throughout Romania. We support the initiatives that facilitate increasestinging the number of specialistsIT in nephrology and ensuring fair territorial coverage. We want to guarantorUmmcAll regions have the necessary resources for diagnosis and treatment, thus ensuring that no patient is neglected. ” said
Prof. univ. Dr. Gener Ismail, President of the Romanian Societyus of nephrology (SRN).

In addition to ensuring free access to diagnosis, the Romanian Nephrology Society aims to strengthen the network of specialized ambulators at national level. At the same time, the initiatives are aimed at integrating new medical services, so that people at risk or those with chronic kidney disease confirmed to benefit from equitable and quick access to investigations and treatment.

“Chronic kidney disease does not hurt, and for this reason many patients remain undiagnosed until the treatment options become limited. Since 2023, the Ministry of Health has prioritized the change of this reality for almost 2 million Romanians affected by chronic kidney disease, many of them without knowing. I gave priority to the early detection, ensuring the settlement of the two essential tests for diagnosis, which are performed at the recommendation of family doctors. We encourage all Romanians to monitor their kidneys’ health ”, A declared Prof. univ. Dr. Alexandru Rafila, Minister of Health.

The development and implementation of a standardized framework for active diagnosis and monitoring at all levels of medical assistance is a priority in the optimization of chronic kidney disease. In this context, the constant dialogue and the close collaboration between all the relevant actors of the health system are essential.

Romanian society of nephrology strongly encourages collaboration with medical institutions andand authorthe sanitary to support an effective BCR management in the Romaniannia, from screening, to diagnosis And treatment, as early as possible. By ensuring fair access to complete medical services – from free to treatment and monitoring diagnosis, orN Assistancemedical primaryie either in the outpatient or hospital – we are convincedBCWe can transform the approach of this disease and significantly improve the quality of the care provided.“They pointed out Prof. univ. Dr. Ina Kacso and Prof. univ. Dr. Adrian Covic in a common statement.

The message of the scientific community and authorities emphasize the importance of constant monitoring of kidney health, especially considering that, in Romania, only 10% of people with BCR are diagnosed in the early stages. This fact highlights the need for free access to evaluation and complete medical check -up to the nephrologist. “The kidneys do not miss, but BCR can affect you silently. Do your analysis, go to your nephrologist and protect your life! ” – is the call that SRN addresses to the general public in this year’s campaign.
