Cornel Dinu, one of the most famous personalities in Romanian football, speaks openly about the pension he receives after a career of over 40 years at Dinamo, both as a player and in various management positions.
The former footballer believes his pension is “fair”, especially when compared to the pensions of other people in the sport who, despite a much shorter career, collect considerably larger sums. Dinu explained that his pension is not among the excessively high ones. In 2003, when he retired under the old system, he received 5,000 lei, and since then the amount has increased to 6,200 lei.
“My pension is not unreasonable!”
He also pointed out that other former footballers who spent only short periods at Dinamo benefit from almost double pensions compared to his.
“My pension is not one of those unreasonable ones. I left the old pension system, in 2003, with 5,000 lei, and now my pension has reached 6,200 lei… I spent 40 years at Dinamo, with managerial positionse.
And Mrs. Lipă (no – Elisabeta Lipă, former Olympic champion), and Mrs. Monica Iagăr (no – former athlete, gold medalist at the European level), who were president of Dinamo for three or four years, retired with 12,000 lei. After ending his career on the field, Cornel Dinu stayed close to football, occupying various management positions at Dinamo over the years. In the period immediately following the Revolution of 1989, he worked as secretary of state in the Ministry of Sports, between 1990 and 1992.
