What President Iohannis says about the elimination of visas for Romanians traveling to the USA: “The signs are not bad”

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, stated that Romania has a chance to liberalize the visa regime for the USA and that “the signs are not bad”, but he avoided advancing a timetable in this regard.

“We worked very intensively on awareness, on informing the public, and it seems that we have a chance here as well. Of course, there are still analyses, measurements, conclusions. But I can say that I am very satisfied with how this case was handled. And those at home tried very hard, and those here tried very hard. And I really think that informing the public was the key to having a much, much lower refusal rate. You know the whole thing is about the so-called rejection rate which has to be low enough. The signs are not bad,” Klaus Iohannis said.

The head of state hesitated to advance a timetable in this regard.

“After we have the first results, we can also discuss this”Iohannis added.

President Klaus Iohannis is in the USA, at the 79th meeting of the UN General Assembly.
