What salaries collect the heads of the Directorates of Public Health. Alexandru Rafila: “Do you think there are many amateurs?”

“Who wants to be head of DSP? Do you think there are many amateurs? No. Because the salary of a public health directory is maximum 7,000 lei. And then no doctor, who has a double salary, goes to be director. We have lawyers, that is, we have economists, we have engineers. Rafila said at Medikatv.

The former minister said that, more than two decades ago, the position of DSP director was reserved for doctors. “When I entered the public health system, in 2001, it was mandatory to be a director. It is not a competition, it is about the status. The DSP director is a public official and has many laboratory doctors, epidemiologists, who earn twice as much as he is. In fact, the selection process is counter -selection.”Rafila explained.

Rafila also explained the difference between DSPs and regional public health centers.

While DSPs are driven by civil servants, regional centers are populated by specialists-epidemiologists, hygiene and microbiologists.

“We have the National Institute of Public Health and regional centers with specialists – epidemiologists, hygiene, microbiologists. They are not civil servants. At the public health directions, those who do the control and inspection are civil servantsI, ”Rafila explained.

The current Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that public health directions are to be reorganized, possibly combined, by the end of the year, because the current control and monitoring system “It doesn’t work properly.”
