Botoșani is one of the counties in which George Simion, the presidential gold candidate, managed to win, with 54.39%. Simion was the favorite of the Botosani rural electorate, but also from the small cities, most of the former communes until 2004. Nicușor Dan was, on the other hand, the favorite of the majority of voters in the county, Botosani and Dorohoi.
Valeriu Iftime, the president of the Botoșani County Council, an important businessman, but also the owner of the Liga I team, FC Botosani, says that the Romanian state should focus more on areas with gold electorate and find viable solutions to avoid radicalization of the population.
“You need a visible change for most”
Valeriu Iftime says that the anti-European and pro-extremist tendencies in the Romanian society, especially in the poor counties, are a direct consequence of the mistakes made by the political class for the last three decades. There are millions of people who can fit in that category of “abandoned Romania”, by politicians more concerned to create advantages than to help solve the problems of the vulnerable categories of society. And at the presidential elections, says Iftime, Romania was to settle.
“I say that yesterday (no Sunday, May 18) passed the bullet to the ear of the Romanian people. To vote, in 2025, extremism, is a real crime of consciousness, which we all assume. The whole political class so far is to blame. It is a matter to which we have to work hard.”says Valeriu Iftime. It adds that the first stage to be able to “asana” the tendencies of radicalization in society, to solve serious social problems, it is primarily the consistent reform of the political class and the efficiency of the government, the state apparatus. In short, the Romanian state should pay more attention to the five million gold voters, to feel listened to, represented effectively.
“We need a good government and without a doubt we have to work hard for the five million who have had a different political option than the pro-European one. We have a lot of work and I think this is the most important thing. Let’s show what a supple political class means, less public chelux and a prospect of life, better.”adds Iftime. In addition, says Iftime, it has to be invested in education. Especially in mass education.
