“The deficit, without discussion, that we do not have a decrease in rating, which practically drives investors in Romania, so the deficit, without discussion, is the main topic”, said the president elected Monday evening, May 29, in an interview for Antena 1. He said that, in the next period, he will also focus on taking responsibilities in the field of foreign and national security policy, as well as on the formation of the new government.
“I still want to not increase the taxes, to see how much the GDP allows us”, said Nicușor Dan. He added that his plan includes measures to limit state spending, efficiency of state companies, increase the absorption of European funds and combat tax evasion.
“The implementation (no of these measures) lasts a few months, which I hope to win, so as to avoid increasing the tax burden on those who already pay their taxes”, said the new president.
Recently, during a debate at Antena 3 CNN, Nicușor Dan promised in writing that VAT will not increase during his term of president.
Nicușor Dan has also announced that he will collaborate with experts outside the traditional political spectrum, especially in the economic field. “I spoke in this campaign with entrepreneurs, with businessmen, who told me that they come volunteer to work with the president, to correct some things that do not work, to help for an economic strategy, so you will see many people who work with me who are outside the current political class.” he said.
He sent it to the Romanians and be patient: “I want to tell people that it will last, that is, it is good to have hope, only that problems have accumulated. A little patience does not spoil.”
Nicușor Dan: “I exclude a technocratic government”
Nicușor Dan, said that the future government will not be one of technocrats, but will be formed either from pro-Western parties, or will function as a minority government, with parliamentary support. Regarding the composition of the future executive, the only member of the current government he would keep is Daniel David, the current Minister of Education.
“Mugur Isarescu, at his time, was a man who limited the state’s expenses very hard. For the first time Romania had an economic growth, was a good prime minister. We do not have to exclude the variant of a technocratic government, but it is unlikely. A government variant would be a government supported by the four pro-Western parties, another variant would be another variant. David said he comes with a program of reforms in education. Nicușor Dan said in an intervention for the News Observer.
