If presidential elections were held tomorrow, George Simion would accumulate the votes of 31% of the voters, while Nicușor Dan would gather 28% of the votes, according to an IRSOP survey conducted on April 4-14, the ProTV news shows.

The third place in the survey would be occupied by Victor Ponta, with 18%, well below the first two rankings, while Crin Antonescu would gather only 17% of the voting options of the Romanians interviewed.

Elena Lasconi, the candidate initially assumed by the USR but of which the party whose president is to deisiswould get only 4% of the votes, according to this survey, and the other six candidates gather in a 2% place.

The survey also shows that a large number of Romanians do not even know a single candidate, and most hate all parties

Basically, even the most solid candidates are not well known to the general public, as they would think.

No less than 10% of those interviewed in the IRSOP survey did not know how to put even a single candidate for the presidential elections on May 4.

The same poll also shows that 44% believe that the President of Romania has high and very high powers, while the remaining 56% believes that the head of state has a very low or not too high power.

“The general opinion about the political parties is rather unfavorable. Candidates will have to convince more by personal qualities than by partinic support”shows the note that accompanies the figures.

Worries and fear

The research also indicates that Romanians live with the care of the income too low and too high prices, which are added to the fear of instability and war.

“Two thirds of voters (63%) live with the fear of uncertainty, war, and recession. For most people, income and prices are the crucial problem. People need to be sure that their world, income, social services, justice are predictable and right,” shows IRSOP sociological research filmmakers.

The IRSOP survey was conducted by telephone interviewing 1030 people between April 4 and 14, 2025.

The sampling tolerance is +/- 3%.
