CSM Bucharest took a big step towards qualification in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for women’s handball, after defeating CS Rapid with a score of 34-24 (19-11), this evening, in the Multipurpose Hall “Ioan Kunst-Ghermănescu”, in the first leg of the play-off of the competition.

Rapid led once in this match, with 2-1, while the “tiger” controlled the game in the vast majority of time. CSMB had nine goals in the first half (19-10), and at the break the score was 19-11 for the Romanian champion.
In the second part, frantically encouraged by the supporters, quickly managed to reduce the difference up to six goals, but the SCM forced the end and broke 10 goals away: 34-24. Cristina Neagu, with 9 successes for the champion of Romania and Elizabeth Homigie (7) were the main “fire mouths” of the SCM, who practically secured her presence among the first 8 teams in the Champions League. Emma Cecilie Uhrskov Fris (5), Trine Jensen Oestergaard (4), Djurdjina Jaukovic, Monika Kobylinska and Crina Pintea (all 3 goals) completed the complete victory of “Tigroaice”.
