The electoral campaign for European and local parliaments, at the end. Continuation of electoral propaganda is prohibited

The electoral campaign, which began on May 10, ended on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. Romanians with the right to vote were expected to go to the polls on Sunday to choose their representatives in the European Parliament and those in the local administration.

This year, 207,389 candidacies were registered for the local elections, and 494 candidates entered the electoral race for the European Parliament elections, writes Agerpres.

For a month, the candidates entering the competition for a seat in the European Parliament or in the management of local administrations sent their messages through election posters or through meetings with voters.

After the end of the electoral campaign, electoral propaganda materials of any type must be removed from the building of the headquarters of the polling station in the country.

According to a decision of the Central Electoral Bureau, the removal of electoral propaganda materials of any type from the building of the polling station headquarters in the country and from that building is ordered by the president of the electoral office of the polling station and is carried out by the persons designated by the mayor in at most two hours after communication.

It is forbidden to continue electoral propaganda after the end of the electoral campaign, namely from June 8, at 7:00 a.m., until the end of voting.

“Continuing electoral propaganda after the end of the electoral campaign means displaying, launching or distributing electoral materials of any type, broadcasting electoral messages in audio, visual or mixed format on digital screens located in public or private places or by means of vehicles specially arranged, with the exception of those already placed during the electoral campaign, as well as advising voters at the headquarters of the polling station and outside the premises of the polling station, up to a distance of 500 meters, to vote or not to vote for certain parties, alliances or independent candidates, after June 8, 7:00 a.m., until the end of voting''BEC shows.

After June 8, at 7:00 a.m., on election day and until the end of voting, the organizers of events of any kind and their participants may not carry out electoral propaganda actions.

Regarding the powers of the president of the electoral office of the voting section in the country regarding the disposition of necessary measures for the elections to take place in good conditions, they also extend outside the voting premises, in its yard, in the entrances to the yard, around the premises of voting, as well as on the streets and in public squares up to a distance of 500 meters.

In order to maintain order, the president of the electoral office of the voting section has at his disposal the necessary means of order provided by the mayor and the prefect, together with the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, whom he informs about the situations that attract actions on their part.

On June 9, starting at 7:00 a.m. and until the end of voting, the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages within a distance of 500 meters around the polling station premises is prohibited.

According to the Central Electoral Bureau, by organizing events of any kind, people's access to polling stations cannot be obstructed before voting, between 18:00 and 19:00, and on the day of voting, between 6:00 and 23:59 .

Almost 19 million voters are expected to vote in European and local elections on Sunday in approximately 20,000 polling stations organized in the country and abroad.
