Emma Răducanu, Wimbledon perfect: she will re-enter the Top 100 thanks to her performance in London

The British player of Romanian origin Emma Răducanu qualified for the round of 16 of the Wimbledon tournament, after defeating the Greek Maria Sakkari, the number 9 favorite, in two sets, 6-2, 6-3, on Friday at the All England Club.

Răducanu, champion at the US Open in 2021, is participating in the current edition of the London Grand Slam on the basis of a wild card offered by the organizers, after she dropped a lot in the WTA ranking at the end of a 2023 season in which she played very little, from because of the medical problems he faced (surgery on both wrists and an ankle).

The player, whose father is Romanian, was ranked 135th in the world before the Wimbledon tournament, but qualifying for the eighths ensures her a jump of more than 40 places in the female hierarchy, thus returning to the WTA Top 100 after the end of this competition.
