One of the most beautiful moments of the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League tournament was offered on Sunday evening by the Romanian national team. The tricolors played evenly with the German national team, the strongest team in the competition, and the spirit of Euro 2024 was fully felt in the encouragement of the public.
Romania – Germany, a spectacular match
League of Nations, a 3×3 basketball competition dedicated to youth teams, scheduled a stage in Bucharest for the third consecutive year, at ParkLake Shopping Center, and the event was financed by the District 3 City Hall through non-refundable funds from the local budget.
Germany, the main favorite of the Nations League, a team with players who are already developing in the senior professional circuit even if they are not yet 21 years old, had a dominant performance, but found themselves led 5-0 after the first minutes of the game against Romania.
The tricolors, in only three players since the first part of the match, after Marian Cochela’s injury, took Germany by surprise with a fantastic energy and a colossal effort. Ours continued at the same pace until 14-14 with two and a half minutes left in the game.
In the end, the much more experienced and talented German national team prevailed 21-16, in a David versus Goliath duel. Robert Spoitoru was the third best scorer of the stage, with 16 points. Our national team managed only one victory, against Turkey, on the first day, 18-16, and is in fifth place after the first three stages.

ParkLake Shopping Center hosted the 3×3 basketball games
The urban sports festival lasted three days
The Nations League matches were once again an excellent opportunity for the Olympic 3×3 basketball community to gather for three days in a new urban sports festival called Sport Arena Streetball.
The fan zone was the main attraction, where competitions with prizes and sports activities dedicated to all sports fans continued. Spectators had the opportunity to interact with the players on the warm-up field, participated in various games and were treated to non-stop music.
The lucky ones also had the opportunity to participate in the contests organized right on the playing field, set up inside the ParkLake Shopping Center.
Cheerleading and acrobatic moments
The artists of the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus were present to maintain the atmosphere during the breaks of the matches with magical moments of acrobatics and juggling.
The iSports Ploiești cheerleaders, as well as the little dancers from the Drag de Măgurele folklore ensemble, prepared numerous exciting moments, the most enjoyed by the audience being a choreography made to the song that also caused a stir at Euro 2024 among the fans of the tricolors, Made in Romania.

The fans experienced the weekend games at full intensity
Team Motivation, determination and passion

A match that showed that sport is good not only for health but also for the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organization’s mission is to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Among the main programs of Motivation Romania are the donation of mobility equipment and guidance towards an independent life for those who use wheelchairs due to accidents.
