“We change the legislation to simplify, clarify and make the protocols regarding the reporting and control of nosocomial infections”, The minister said on Saturday evening, August 16, in a Facebook post.
He stressed that infections associated with medical assistance must be reported, registered and controlled, not hidden.
“Only in this way can we protect patients and limit their spread between people already in a vulnerable situation. In Romania, for years, these infections have been treated as a taboo subject. Because of this, the patients lost confidence, and the doctors were put under a huge pressure. It is time to change this,” the minister explained.
Among the changes recently made to the legislation are:
– the rules of supervision and control of infections in public and private hospitals;
– Methodology for reporting nosocomial infections;
– the clear duties for the accidents of exposure to biological products of the medical staff;
– Specific methodologies for monitoring these situations and protection of personnel and patients.
Also, the Ministry of Health will put into operation the electronic register of reporting nosocomial infections, initiated by European funds at the Children’s Hospital “Grigore Alexandrescu” and which will be extended to all units that treat critical patients, especially those with serious burns.
“Patients in Romania deserve safe hospitals, correct treatments and total transparency. We no longer hide the problems – we solve them for people! It is a firm commitment! Trust does us good!”, said Minister Rogobete.
