Controversial message of March 8: Soșoaca wishes women “Happy Birthday” with a photo of Putin

MEP Diana Sosoacă caused reactions on social networks after she sent a message on International Women’s Day accompanied by a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which she claims was sent to her by him himself.

The message was published on his Facebook page on the morning of March 8. In the post, Sosoacă sends wishes to the women and says that the image with the Kremlin leader was received directly from him.

“Happy birthday, ladies and gentlemen! I share with you what President Vladimir Putin sent me this morning! Be loved and happy“, is the message published by the MEP.

The photo accompanying the post shows Vladimir Putin in a stylized image, holding a bouquet of flowers in a symbolic gesture of congratulation for Women’s Day.

Wave of critical reactions in the comments

The post generated numerous reactions from users, and some of the comments were critical or ironic about the claim that the photo was sent personally by the Russian leader. One netizen commented: “If this is what he sent you, I’m the pope. (and I’m not).”

Another critical comment says: “Embarrassing gesture. By both of you! What would the mothers of the Russians and Ukrainians who have died in the 4-year war feel seeing this post, Mrs. Shrew? A rhetorical question, obviously. That none of you have any shred of empathy to even try to feel something!”

Other users reacted even more directly: “Only little doesn’t bring flowers, but bullets.”

Liaisons and appearances with Russian officials

It is not the first time that Diana Sosoacă appears in contexts related to Russian officials. At the end of last year, she participated in an event organized in Sochi, where she was photographed with Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of Russia and known for his strongly anti-Western positions.

Also last year, Sosoacă stated that he had also met Vladimir Putin, during an event organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Russia Today television station, known for its role in the Kremlin’s media propaganda.
