Victor Ponta enjoys almost double the confidence of Sorin Grindeanu in the latest INSCOP survey. Top politicians’ notoriety

Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta enjoys almost double the confidence of Sorin Grindeanu, according to the latest survey conducted by INSCOP Research. George Simion is in first place in the ranking of trust in political personalities in Romania. President Nicușor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan follow in the top.

Ranking of notoriety

In terms of notoriety, the top places are:

George Simion – 98.8% notoriety

Nicusor Dan – 98.6%

Ilie Bolojan – 98.2%

The ranking continues with Victor Ponta (97.8%) and the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Sorin Grindeanu (82.7%). Ciprian Ciucu follows, with 63.1%, Dominic Fritz, with 59%, and Dan Dungaciu, who 25% of respondents say they have heard of.

Top of trust

Regarding the level of trust, 34.3% of respondents say they have a lot or quite a lot of trust in George Simion.

In second place is Nicușor Dan, with 27.6%, and in third place is Ilie Bolojan, with 25.1%.

The ranking continues with:

Ciprian Ciucu – 15.7%

Dominic Fritz – 14.9%

Sorin Grindeanu – 12%

Dan Dungaciu – 7.8%

According to the authors of the survey, the lower level of trust in the case of leaders such as Ciprian Ciucu, Dominic Fritz or Dan Dungaciu is also influenced by the lower degree of notoriety.

What does the trust level look like for each leader?

In the case of George Simion, 14.1% of respondents say they have a lot of confidence, and 20.2% quite a lot. On the other hand, 48.3% say they have very little or no confidence.

For Nicușor Dan, 7.3% of respondents declare that they have a lot of trust, and 20.3% quite a lot, while 55.3% say that they have very little or no trust.

In the case of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, 9.9% say they have a lot of confidence and 15.2% quite a lot, while 58.2% say they have very little or no confidence.

6.8% of respondents said they have a lot of confidence in Victor Ponta and 14% quite a lot, while 55.2% of respondents say they have very little or no confidence in him.

2.5% of those surveyed mention that they have a lot of trust in Sorin Grindeanu, while 9.5% have quite a lot, 15.9% quite a bit and 50.2% very little or none at all. 5% do not know or do not answer. The difference up to 100% is given by those who declare that they do not know Sorin Grindeanu.

Survey methodology

The data were collected between March 2-6, 2026, through telephone interviews conducted using the CATI method. The sample was 1,100 people, representative of the non-institutionalized adult population of Romania, and the maximum margin of error is ±3%, at a confidence level of 95%.

The Informat.ro – INSCOP Research barometer, now in its 8th edition, was carried out between March 2-6, 2026 and aims to bring to public attention topics of interest and Romanians’ perception of public policies and political personalities. The study is carried out in partnership with the think-tank Strategic Thinking Group. The director of INSCOP is Remus Ștefureac.

Yesterday, the first part of the survey was published, which analyzed voting intentions for the parliamentary elections. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) remains in first place in voting intentions, with 38%, down from 40.9% in January 2026. The survey also analyzed the likelihood of voting. On a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 means that the respondent is sure that he will vote, 65.4% of Romanians chose the maximum level.
