The first job, paid by the state: project of over 170 million euros for 28,000 young people. Minister of Labor: “It’s an extremely important project”

The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, announced the launch of an extensive program, financed with over 170 million euros, through which the first job of young people will be subsidized for two years. The project would most likely be started in April and targets 28,000 beneficiaries from the whole country.

The minister declared that the initiative is one of the most important for the institution he leads and aims to facilitate young people’s access to their first job.

“It’s a project of over 170 million euros that provides subsidies for the first job for over 28,000 young people throughout the country. It’s an extremely important project. (…) It’s a benchmark project for the Ministry of Labor. We proposed it in September, we will start it, unfortunately, with a delay, which is not due to us, in April most likely“, said Florin Manole, on Saturday, in a press conference held in Arad, according to News.ro.

How the subsidy works

According to the minister, the state will cover the salary costs for the first job of young people for a period of two years. At the same time, employers who enter the program will have the obligation to retain employees for another 18 months after the end of the subsidy.

The official stated that the project also includes a number of technical details regarding the implementation, which will be presented in detail once the program is actually launched.
