Video Who would support a minority government. Prime Minister Bolojan: “Many parliamentarians are beginning to understand what Romania’s problems are”

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Wednesday, April 29, that PNL can be in government again, but not in a coalition with PSD. Also, it does not exclude the appearance of a new group in the Parliament to support a minority government.

“We are responsible people and we have not run away from the part of assuming responsibility. In the situation where such a post-motion consultation could be reached, we will obviously take the mandate from the PNL leadership, we will go before the president and state our point of view.

This point of view can only be the one that follows the decisions that have already been made. And this means that we can be in a government, but we can no longer be in a coalition with the PSD”said Ilie Bolojan on TVR.

The Prime Minister specified that the PNL also has the option of building a pole of modernization from the opposition alongside other political forces.

“If they (those from the PSD – no), if they were statesmen and would have assumed responsibility for these positions, but they did not do that, then, obviously, the PNL must look for an alternative, in such a way that, in a limited situation, it can be built from the opposition.”

Ilie Bolojan says that no party stays in government permanently, but if it has the opportunity to govern, it should do it responsibly.

He states that PNL will not accept to be in power under conditions imposed by PSD, with a prime minister “puppet”, and does not rule out the emergence of a new parliamentary group to support a minority government.

“Of course, many parliamentarians who entered different lists are beginning to understand what Romania’s problems are and what can really be done in the future. I have tried throughout this period not to create expectations that cannot be honored, to tell Romanians what is the path we have to take, in order to set things right”. he said.

Asked if a UNPR-type solution could appear, which at one point supported the Government led by Emil Boc, the prime minister answered that it is possible for this to happen.

“It is possible that this will also happen, but I cannot make predictions about what a number of parliamentarians will do in one way or another. But, at some point, think about it, when you have coalitions of 3-4 parties, as we must have, it is not very convenient, in general, neither to administer the coalition, nor to make decisions”said Bolojan.

At the same time, Ilie Bolojan also stated that he is accused of showing a certain rigidity as prime minister, but claims that, if he was not flexible enough, it would have been difficult to bring four parties plus the national minorities to support the same idea.

The censure motion submitted by the PSD, AUR and PACE parliamentary groups – “First Romania”against the Bolojan Government, was presented on Wednesday in the assembled plenary session of the Parliament. The motion was signed by 253 parliamentarians.
