Realitatea Plus receives a new sanction from CNA, at a time when the station is facing declines in audience and problems with the advertising contracts that brought it money.
After the star of the television station, Anca Alexandrescu, confirmed the decrease in Realitatea Plus audiences, the television station receives another blow, this time from the National Broadcasting Council (CNA).
Realitatea Plus will have to broadcast for three hours, between 18.00 and 21.00, exclusively the text of the sanctioning decision, after CNA found several violations of audiovisual legislation in shows broadcast in February 2026.
The decision was taken in the public meeting of July 7, 2026, after CNA members analyzed 34 reports drawn up by the Monitoring Directorate as a result of reports received by the institution and self-reports regarding shows broadcast by the Realitatea Plus channel between February 1-25, 2026.
Mircea Toma, member of the CNA, justified the sanction by the consistent presence of George Simion, with a long, electoral speech, the intense dissemination of images from the protests, either current images or generic images. “The moderator mobilizes for protests. It was a whole week of calls for mobilization for protest throughout the country. Instead of being a television station, here we are dealing with all these shows with a political mechanism for mobilizing the public, with electoral messages: new elections must be organized, those who deserve to win them must win, AUR is present with mobilization for rallies for the whole country. The television part is forgotten in the shows 100% and in a few isolated interventions outside this river of support, of overdose by Călin Georgescu, George Simion, AUR and Alexandra Păcuraru“, argued Mircea Toma.
According to the statement posted on the official page of CNA, the station violated provisions of the Audiovisual Law no. 504/2002 and from the Audiovisual Content Regulation Code regarding the obligation of media service providers to ensure the correct information of the public, the balance of debates and the clear separation between opinions and facts.
The Council invoked the violation of several articles of the Audiovisual Code according to which television stations must correctly present facts and events, ensure pluralism of opinions in programs of public interest and demand evidence when guests make accusations against certain persons or institutions.
In the same meeting, CNA also decided to sanction SC PHG MEDIA INVEST SRL, the company that operates the Realitatea Plus channel, with a fine of 10,000 lei.
The fine was imposed for the violation of Article 54 paragraph (2) of the Audiovisual Law, which stipulates that media service providers must request the CNA’s consent when there are changes in the documents and data previously declared to the Council.
At the same time, the CNA decided to issue a decision regarding the order to act against illegal content for the audiovisual material entitled “Romania is getting sicker? Cristi Filip, comes with a deep perspective”, published on May 20, 2026 on the YouTube channel “Vocea Libertăţii cu Mihail Neamţu”.
According to CNA, the respective material violates the provisions of the Audiovisual Content Regulation Code regarding commercial audiovisual communications and the promotion of certain products or treatments.
Anca Alexandrescu lost her loyal audience after the fight with Călin Georgescu
The CNA sanction comes at a time when Realitatea Plus is facing a decline in audiences and difficulties related to advertising revenue.
Anca Alexandrescu, producer of the show “Coulisele Statului Paralel” and one of the best-known figures of the station, recently spoke about the financial situation of the television, after the decrease in the audience of her program.
In a desperate attempt to maintain the appearance that the loss of an important segment of viewers is not serious, in the show broadcast on Sunday evening, July 5, she claimed that the audience success was, in the end, “a poisoned apple”, because it brought visibility, but the station lost a lot of advertising contracts, because of Călin Georgescu.
The statements came after the publication of some data regarding the audience of the “Culisele Statului Paralel” show. According to the figures presented by Paginademedia.ro, the edition broadcast on Thursday, July 2, was watched by approximately 108,000 viewers, the lowest level in the last month and almost half of the show’s usual audience.
The decrease in audiences appeared immediately after Realitatea Plus announced that it will no longer broadcast anything related to Călin Georgescu until he presents a public apology. The decision came after a tense exchange of lines in the show “Culisele Statului Paralel”, in which Călin Georgescu made explicit references to the character of Anca Alexandrescu.
