“I would ask the Minister of Education to stay at 40 degrees for 3 hours!“. A nightmare Baccalaureate, marked by heatwaves, storms and flooded subways. Although they got high marks, many graduates dispute the results and recount the ordeal in the exam halls: “I wrote with sweaty hands, my pen was slippingThe results of the written tests of the June-July session of the 2026 Baccalaureate national exam were published on Tuesday, July 7.
A total of 94,345 candidates passed (90,263 candidates from the current promotion, respectively 4,082 from previous promotions) from the number of 126,169 candidates present, while 4,685 candidates did not appear and 67 were eliminated. For the current promotion, the success rate is 79.7%, while for past years’ promotions, the percentage stands at 31.7%.
Candidates dissatisfied with the grades received can file appeals, but before that they can request to view the papers. Complaints can be submitted today, July 7, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively on July 8 and 9, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Candidates can request to view their work after the initial results are displayed, in accordance with the provisions of the procedure established by the National Baccalaureate Commission.
Three students from Bucharest told “Adevărul” the conditions in which they took the written tests of the Baccalaureate exam and to what extent they are determined to file appeals.
I will submit an appeal to Mathematics”
For Sebastian, an ambitious graduate aiming for admission to ASE, the Baccalaureate session was more a test of physical and mental endurance than one of knowledge. Although he achieved high marks, the young man tells how poor organization and last-minute decisions deprived him of the results he really deserved.
“On the first test, in Romanian, the fans were old and barely moved the air. I wrote with sweaty hands and my pen was slipping. I got a 9.50, which is ok, but I feel like I could have done better on the essay. The second test, in mathematics, was postponed because of the heat wave. Many probably think that it was better that I had an extra day to learn, but that you don’t get to remember anything because of the stress. I, at least, was psyched for the original date, and the procrastination ruined it for me the rhythm of rest and concentration. I only got 8.10, although I expected to get more than 9. I’m filing an appeal in Mathematics, because although I couldn’t think too clearly that day, I’m pretty sure that the teachers didn’t have anything to depreciate me so much”.
Beyond the extreme fatigue and organizational chaos, it was the passion for studying that saved the final grades. Sebastian declares himself satisfied with his result in Biology, already making plans for admission and sounding a realistic alarm about how climate change will dictate the timetable of national exams in the future.
On the third test, in Biology, I got 9.00 and I declare myself satisfied, because, although I was exhausted, I am passionate about this subject. Next, I want to see what is chosen for the appeal in Mathematics and I am preparing for admission to the ASE. Overall I did well, although the conditions were far from optimal. I for one don’t know if the Baccalaureate has ever been held like this, I’m just glad that it wasn’t a harder exam than usual, because then we would have come out completely disadvantaged. From next year I also agree that they should take the exam earlier, but let’s see how much it will matter in the long run, because what are they going to do, move it to March if climate change affects us even more?”Sebastian stated.
“The exam was supposed to start at 1pm for everyone”
From sweltering heat in amphitheatres, to storms and blocked infrastructure. For Anais, the road to the Baccalaureate exam was a real obstacle course due to the extreme weather in the Capital. The young woman, who wants to enter the Faculty of Political Sciences, told how migraines and chaos on the subway turned her exams into a nightmare:
Scandal at Baccalaureate 2026. Error in the official scale in Logic, even in a “trap” exercise. How to file appeals
“The hardest part was in the written test, in Romanian. Not because the subjects were difficult, I think that from this point of view I got away easily as long as there was an accessible poem, but because of the conditions in the exam room. I had two fans blowing from the front but they barely reached me, being in the last benches and positioned at the window. I really had migraines because of the heat, it was very difficult for me to concentrate. I got 8.75, which which is decent but not brilliant.
On the second test, in History, on the day of the rescheduling we had the floods. I live next to the North Station, and that morning the subway was flooded. My mom took me to the exam after seeing the pictures of the subway, but no one was rested, either from the storm, or from the emotions of the exam, or from the fact that they had to wake up earlier to make sure they weren’t late. At the exit, I found out that those who were late still had a chance, and to be honest, I would have preferred to have started all the exams at 1:00 p.m. and to have notified us at least the night before, because we would have all had much more normal conditions.” shows the young woman.
Although she has mastered the subject, the huge discrepancy between the effort put in and the final grade makes the young woman not give up easily. Anais explains why she will submit an appeal to History, how she managed to make up for it in the last test and which is the faculty where she wants to continue her studies in Bucharest.
“I only got a 7.00 in History, even though I knew all the essays by heart, which is why I’m also going to appeal, even though I’m not completely sure I didn’t make any silly mistakes because of the conditions. I’ll look at my paper anyway and decide if it’s worth it.
The third test, in Geography, was the quietest, meteorologically and from all points of view. If everything had gone like this it would have been perfect. There I got 9.70, I already knew where I went wrong when I saw the scale. I’m a little bummed that I didn’t get a 10, but since seeing the scale so far I’ve managed to get through. Further, I am waiting to see what I will do with the challenge to History and then I will apply to the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bucharest”Anais told.
“I would ask the Minister of Education to try to keep his focus on our conditions”
Marius does not mince his words at all and launches a direct challenge to the leadership of the Ministry of Education. The future Journalism student believes that organizing the Code Red exams on time was a proof of a complete lack of preparation and explains why scheduling the tests “in the morning brains”, during a storm, was an absurd decision:
Bac 2026 results have been published. How you can see the work before appeals
“The first test, the Romanian one, was a nightmare. I would ask the Minister of Education to sit for 3 hours in a room with two fans and 40 degrees outside so he can see for himself if he can maintain his concentration or not. I can’t understand why they prepared so badly when they knew a week before that we would have a red code. I’m happy with myself, I got 8.40, but I don’t know if those who organized the Baccalaureate this year would have reason to be equally pleased.
At Wednesday morning’s test there was a storm. I was tired so I woke up an hour early to make sure I was on time. I was sick of being tired because I couldn’t sleep well even during the night. I don’t understand why we have to give exams in the morning brains, it makes no sense. In order to make it to high school by 8:30, some have to wake up at 6 in the morning under stressful conditions, as is the case with any exam. It doesn’t make the slightest sense, I think that those who took the test at 13:00 were more advantageous, because at that time you can think. I got 9.40 in history, I’m ok with the grade, but the conditions were below any limit.
In Logic I got 10, there I had no emotions even though it was harder than usual. The luck is that the tests in Romanian and History were not harder than in previous years. I won’t dispute any sample because I took what I expected after seeing the scales, but it remains a bitter taste in any case. Further, I will apply to the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Bucharest”Marius explained.
