The mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, says that the real power in the PSD is not held by the interim president Sorin Grindeanu, but by the vice-president of the party, Lia Olguța Vasilescu. The mayor claims that important political messages are launched by her and then taken over by the social-democratic leadership.
In an interview given to the Cotidianul publication, Constantin Toma stated that the party is in reality led by Lia Olguța Vasilescu and her husband, the general secretary of the PSD, Claudiu Manda.
“Actually, we are led by Olguța and Claudiu Manda. This is the reality. Even if some of my colleagues don’t think it’s really like that, this is the truth. Some messages are being sent. These public messages are starting to go from Olguța, in general, and then, of course, PSD only takes, with different voices, what Olguța said”, declared Constantin Toma.
“Grindeanu just took Olgutea’s message”
The mayor of Buzău supported his claims by the example of the conflict between Lia Olguța Vasilescu and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan regarding the situation of Electrocentrale Craiova.
According to him, after the mayor of Craiova publicly asked the prime minister to resign, the same position was adopted by the PSD leadership.
“When Olguța asked for Bolojan’s resignation, then this matter was transmitted in waves to the entire PSD. Sorin Grindeanu, then, only took what Olguța said and took it to another level, being the president of the party. Olguța is the vice-president of the party, the second position in the party is Claudiu Manda, your husband. In general, everything that happens in the Oltenia area, I think is the strongest part of the PSD and with influence for a long time, not now.” said the mayor.
Asked if this means that Sorin Grindeanu does not make decisions in the party by himself, Constantin Toma answered: “It will be thinking, but it’s also about the power you have.”
“The most listened to voice in PSD is Olguța Vasilescu”
At the end of the intervention, the mayor of Buzău formulated a categorical conclusion regarding the balance of forces within the PSD.
“The most listened voice in PSD is not Sorin Grindeanu, it is Olguța Vasilescu”, declared Constantin Toma.
