Radu Giovani, sentenced in the past to six years in prison for copying cards, is today part of the cast of the series “Trafic”, broadcast by Pro TV.
While serving his sentence at the Rahova Penitentiary, Radu Giovani watched the filming for the Pro TV series from his cell. A few years later, he got to play himself in the production “Traffic”. Invited to the “OBAE ca un duş rece” podcast, produced by Petrișor Obae and shared on Pagina Media, he told how he went from being an inmate in the Rahova Penitentiary to being an actor.
During the detention, the Pro TV team filmed scenes for the productions signed by Anghel Damian in the penitentiary, and Radu Giovani says that he watched everything from behind the bars, without suspecting that, in a few years, he would end up working in a series of the same television station.
“Nothing is accidental. They were coming to film “Daddy” in the penitentiary when I was arrested”, he told in Petrișor Obae’s podcast.
Romanian series enjoyed great success among the inmates, he recalls, and “Clan” was one of the most watched productions.
“We were also watching “Vlad” when it came out, but the “Clan” series made a sensation in the penitentiary”, Giovani said.
An episode that remained imprinted in his memory is the one in which the actor Sergiu Costache arrived in Rahova for filming:
“Sergiu Costache had also come to the penitentiary, he is my friend, we were in the same high school. I looked like that and saw that everyone was congratulating Tătuţu and shouting for him at the windows – Tă-tu-țu! Tă-tu-țu!”
Filming completely changed the routine in the penitentiary, because, for security reasons, the inmates’ schedule was suspended during the presence of the production team.
“When the people from Pro TV came in to film, everything in the penitentiary was closed. There was no airing, no going outside, nothing like that.” Radu Giovani also told.
At that time, he did not imagine that he would become an actor in a Pro TV production. Today, however, he is part of the cast of the series “Trafic”.
