On loan from Tottenham, this summer, Radu Drăgușin made his debut for his new team, Fiorentina, on Wednesday, in the friendly which the peninsular group won 1-0 against third league team AS Gubbio. The Romanian international has often said that Serie A is close to his heart.
Drăgușin was the starter in the center of Fiorentina’s defense, which prevailed with a goal scored from the penalty by Albert Gudmundsson, at the end of the first half.
The Romanian defender arrived at Fiorentina this summer, on loan, from the English team Tottenham Hotspur. The contract also includes the option of a permanent transfer to the Florence club at the end of next season.
Fiorentina are due to travel to England on Friday, where they will play two friendlies against Queen’s Park Rangers (July 25) and Watford (July 28), before facing Spanish outfit Real Madrid in a luxury friendly in Klagenfurt, Austria, on August 1.
The Italians will finish their preparation for the new competitive year with a friendly, at home, in the company of Deportivo La Coruna, newly promoted to the Primera Divison. It will be played on August 6, and then the team of players will be presented to the fans.
Drăgusin appreciates football in Italy
Upon returning to the peninsula, Radu Drăgușin stated in an interview for TGR Rai Toscana: “Serie A holds a special place in my heart. The impressions are very positive. The boys received me very well. Since I already knew many of them and spoke the language, it took me very little time to settle in“.
The Romanian international continued in the same tone: “I’m glad to be here. It’s great to be back and I can’t wait to play. It didn’t take long to convince me to come here. Certainly, my relationship with director Paratici facilitated this transfer, and the trust he has in me means a lot. And the supporters received me well, I received many messages and I thank them. Romanian defender Radu Drăgușin stated that he agreed to transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Fiorentina because the Italian team has “a development project” that convinced him to return to Serie A: “The negotiations started with a phone call from Paratici (the sporting director at Fiorentina, who previously worked at Tottenham – no).
