The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announces that 9,969 candidates have registered for 5,483 places and positions at the National Residency Contest that will take place on November 15. “I know how much work is behind such an exam. “On November 15, the 2026 National Residency Competition takes place, and our responsibility is to ensure that each candidate benefits from fair, transparent and equal conditions. The exam brings together 9,969 candidates for 5,483 places and positions and can decide the professional path of an entire generation of young doctors. Today, at the Ministry of Health, we had the first meeting to organize the competition, in a video conference system, with the members to the Central Commission, the rectors of the six universities of medicine and pharmacy and the president of the Romanian College of Physicians, Prof. Dr. Cătălina Poiană”, said Alexandru Rogobete, on Monday, in a post on Facebook, according to News.ro.
He mentioned that, this year, 7,180 candidates registered for Medicine, compared to 6,956 last year, and the number of places increased from 4,354 to 4,481. There are also 265 positions available for Medicine.
In Dentistry, there are 1,855 candidates for 491 places, and in Pharmacy, 934 candidates for 245 places.
“I know how much work is behind such an exam. The years of college, the nights of study, the emotions and the pressure of a result on which the following years of professional training depend. I have asked for a careful check of all procedures, especially the security measures, so that the organization of the competition leaves no room for doubt. We will continue the coordination next week, to finalize all the details. I will personally participate in the opening of the competition, because I want to be with these young people at such an important time for their future”, added Rogobete.
